The Homo-eroticism of Sometimes It Snows In April

I know this song is totally not about a homosexual relationship, but I do remember first hearing the song, and I thought it was such a beautiful song, and worked fantastically well as a love song from a man to his deceased boyfriend.

Beautiful.

Exactly, there's no diss. You make a valid point.

Besides, wasn't Prince bonin' around with Jerome
at the time.

Or was that just an evil rumour?

Don't you all know that any love from a man to another man HAS to have gay undertones? Blah.
Personally . I think we are all Boring with No Lives cause all we do is talk about Prince,Criticize and Gossip. I need a Horny Man is what I Need and probably so do most of yas. We are Sexually Frustrated what we R... Amen..!!! - zelaire

Mais oui, me cap-e-tan. The film is an allegory to the song, I think.

I think that's cool.He can say that he loves his friend.Kinda' like "it's probably me"by sting. That's cool.I still remember when a man other than my pop told me he loved me.I was taken aback,at first, then,I realized I was being silly and that this was a brother to me and he is man enough to tell me how much he appreciated me.Tht's cool.I grew up some after that. And it's funny ,too because i still remmber when my boys first gave me a hug way back when.then it was incorporated in all the male relationships that I knew of and I introduced it to my father and uncles. Now all the men in my family hug each other whereas, that used toi be taboo.I thank hip hop culture for that. And you would think that wouldn't be possible.Hiop hop is moctly thought of as super macho and homophobic. But ,in hip hop,I always saw brothers givinge ach other pounds and hugs and itw as all good.

SISIA is not homo-erotic.SISIA is a strong statement of male strength ,maturity, and honesty. Why would it be wrong to love your brother?

I remember a critic referring to this song as "homo-erotic",which I thought was absurd. On this song,Prince seems to be singing from *Mary's* point of view.

I thought it was Tricky's PoV.

Either that, or Prince, referring to Christopher as like an internal alter-ego in some sense.

Tracy died soon after a long fought civil war,
just after I'd wiped away his last tear
I guess he's better off than he was before,
A whole lot better off than the fools he left here
I used 2 cry 4 Tracy because he was my only friend
Those kind of cars don't pass u every day
I used 2 cry 4 Tracy because I wanted to see him again,
But sometimes sometimes life ain't always the way...
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad
Sometimes I wish life was never ending,
and all good things, they say, never last
Springtime was always my favorite time of year,
A time 4 lovers holding hands in the rain
Now springtime only reminds me of Tracy's tears
Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain
He used 2 say so strong unafraid to die
Unafraid of the death that left me hypnotized
No, staring at his picture I realized
No one could cry the way my Tracy cried
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad
Sometimes, sometimes I wish that life was never ending,
And all good things, they say, never last
I often dream of heaven and I know that Tracy's there
I know that he has found another friend
Maybe he's found the answer 2 all the April snow
Maybe one day I'll see my Tracy again
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad
Sometimes I wish that life was never ending,
But all good things, they say, never last
All good things that say, never last
And love, it isn't love until it's past
