wud U want new P album with his influenced music fans on it?

im just talking to a mate about it who says prince shoudl record with outkast if he wants his name baout again
we listed all the peeps who he could record with

outkast
bassment jaxx (who wanted him for their new album)
missy elliot
eminem and dr.dre
daft punk
felix da housecat
the roots
d'angelo
foo fighters
possibly queens of stone age or just lead singer

it would be a mix between dance/rock/hip hop or funk

isnt that what his early records were like?!

any more people we could add? i think this would be cool as long as he kept his sound. all these artists are talented enough to be on a jazzy funk record. the black artists here weere all influence by the jazz/funk greats anyway. so if prince took them to Paisley park and said hey this is what ive got for us. then let them rap/record abit overit. instead of dominating them. do you think it woudl be good?

as i say id like to see it. it woudl be better tha rave surely? prince is more laidback than ever and then going through a creative "peak" at the moment.

just wondering on your thoughts and if you can add to the list!

I still think he should merge with a few other stars with the same stature and see what happens (David Bowie, Billy Idol, Pink Floyd, etc.)

why do people want p to collaborate with people just because they 'sound like' or are 'influenced' by him?

confused

it would be interesting, he could do that too on the album. each track a different artist. stick bowie on, who else would you have? MJ? Madonna? Duran Duran!!!?

it would be something different and it would be interesting to see. to be honest id still prefer an all new prince album btu it people are on about him returning to success, after his new album this could be huge. but then again maybe not. im asking what everyone else htinks about it...

Stature? I'm not sure I'd put Billy Idol in the same category either by way of musical eminence or body height.

yeah i thought it wss a weird thing to say, but considering how he took punk and did a sort of poppier version (in his later stuff) it would be interesting to see em do stuff like "sister" together. or write new stuff like that musically i mean

I think Prince should record a concept album about burritos with the all-dwarf KISS tribute band Mini-KISS.

Do you really think he cares about getting his name back out there? He hasn't for quite some time. In his own fucked up way, I think he just cares about his music, and of course money.

Hey, Billy Idol has his own following. Prince isn't the ONLY one to have this sort of thing...

well he is going to do a huge world tour and most likely release a major new album. i think he cares to some extent. and the way things are heading, its possible for a purple rain 20th anniversary edition etc etc. so he is bothered about it i would think. sure he probably isnt desperate anymore (and thats a good thing) but he must still have some inkling, though yes it would suggest he doesnt care as he keeps turning these people down!

its jst when everything seems to be coinciding like it could do next year, its either immense coincendence (of which prince is taking full advantage) or more than that

I'm happy Prince keeps himself to himself. I don't want him looking desperate to get himself on MTV or Pop radio.Bollocks to that! Prince has always kept it real.

Much as i love Stevie Wonder, I watched CDUK this morning, him and Angie Stone have teamed up with a lame-ass British boyband called Blue on a cover of 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered'. I was fucking horrified, it was that bad.

I DO NOT EVER want Prince doing shit like that.

ah good point, but i mean, if he kept his sound, ie jazzy funk music, would he look that desperate like rave? i dont think so. plus the people he would be working with would be the cream of the music world in their respective genres, blue are shit. ok i admit theyre probably the most respected of vocal harmony boy bands in the uk, but still. theyre nothing compared to the artists listed above

ps what about prince with stevie and santana!?

He should work with some entirely new artists. Forget his descendants, get some music genius virgins in the mix.

He tried it with Rave, it didn't work. He's better doing his own thing.

A better way would be for him to pop up on these people's albums from time to time (like Star 69 on Common's album)

I thought he might guest on Alicia's new one but he didn't bother.

yeah thats what i thought with rave but then hes got a proper sound now, instead of the sort of current style commercial sound of rave, plus he's probably (though this is guesswork) more laidback abit now i reckon, hes more secure etc now than around rave period.

I agree, but I don't want Prince to be a superstar again because he composes commercial music. I love his last albums, real master works (Xpectation, ONA, News & The Rainbow Children), if people don't appreciate real music, they deserve to be manipulated by record companies.

But if Prince must recorde with someone...
Can I suggest

ME? guitar lol

Who would I like to hear Prince collaborate with?

Amel Larrieux

Deva Premal (doubt that would happen 'cause they're Buddhist, but they are GOOD! It would be one helluva mix! ).

Les Nubians

JazzeyFatNastee

Missy Elliot

ANY of the artists off of the Future Soul CD!!!

Jaheim

That's all I can think of right now.

yeah but once you get that? i mean, say in a couple of years time. its not like we dont get anything from prince so an album liek this would completely detract from anything he could do.

i think id prefer musicology at the moment, but one off songs would be cool for the time being. then why not an album, he could probably do it in a month or something. he coudl release it while hes still doing his world tour. depends on what his contract with universal would be like though, but i bet theyd love it, and hopefully not tell him to re-record any of it to sound more "black"! then we wont get rave mk2!

I think Prince should collaborate with John Frusciante! He's an incredible creative guitar player, his contributions for the RHCP are underrated.
