Prince and Acting

I've often thought it would be cool if Prince were to delve into the acting arena again. I could totally see him being cast in something thats a straight drama, nothing musically related. I think he'd be awesome in a serious psychological thriller.

What could you picture Prince acting in?

no but a cold dark film would be good!! scary chilling film, with him as the killer or bad guy, would be a great film!

As far as I recall someone on the org ( Handclapsandfingasnapz ???) talked about this before and said something like Prince should do a couple of cameos, as an alien or villain or whatever...
I agree totally...OK, Graffiti Bridge IS a bit strange but I dig Under The Cherry Moon and Purple Rain is also OK, he should seriously consider acting again and do some cameo appearances and play a villain or other weird stuff..apart from his extreme vanity he´s not that bad as an actor...seriously.
Maybe something in a Tarantino movie or Spike Lee or whatever.
Also, am I the ONLY one who thinks Prince would have been great as the Joker in Batman ?? Nicholson was good, but just watch that Partyman video and you´ll get my point ..
Prince should try again .

Anxiety

I think the time has come and gone for Prince's acting career...I can see him doing a cute little walk-on part in a Spike Lee or Robert Altman flick, but beyond that I dunno...

He should definitely do an appearance on "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" cuz we all know Prince has style.

Damn, y'all are some rude azz fans!

Kooleaze:

No, you are not the only one that thinks he would have torn up the role of the Joker! I also agree about him being a pretty good actor too, despite UTCM and GB. Notice how in Purple Rain when the main character was more real, his acting was waaay more believable.

Andykeen:

Yep, that's exactly what I was thinking too...something cold, dark, amd chilling! He would make a good villain or the undercover guy trying to infiltrate something.

You are all crazy...

honestly, with the exception of a few poorly done parts that made me wince, I have no problem watching Prince's acting, but he should stick to the music. And, if he did make a movie, it wouldn't have a hope in hell of succeeding, and he'd have to talk about another thing that failed because the distributor marketed it poorly. rolleyes

Nah... Prince is his own man... "just like Liberace!" Would be hard to see him as an actor now.

I suggest Dramas!Hes funny but in a scary way...So he should do dramas or horror flicks...not monster ones but a holloween sort of thing...ooh vision...He wears a see through scarf that u only can see his cold eyes...his voice is so deep it sounds mechanical..."The Prince of Terror"!I like it...hehe.

I always wondered why Prince didn't do more movies, but of course movies like "Purple Rain", with an album attached to them. Then I saw "Graffiti Bridge"...and understood!

C'mon people. That was then, this is now. PR was good because the writing was good and the storyline clear, unlike UTCM and GB. I think if he were to play to someone else's script and story, he'd be a really good fit.

Totally agree. Prince would have been an incredible Joker. I think he could act perfectly, and it's not necessary to watch his films. What about Las Vegas DVD? On Pass the Peas and more, he's acting like Charles Chaplin.
But I think despite his skill, he can't act because he's himself all the time, can you imagine Prince performing a secondary role?

I think Prince is actually a very good actor!! He has that special gift that can express emotions without even saying a word..

chapin had it
bruce lee did too

prince has those same skills!

he acts well with just his eyes.

I've said it before, but he'd be great in smaller cameo roles - where he wasn't the director/writer.

I guess he is a control freak, and doesn't do much hob-nobbing with Hollywood, but I think he'd be great given the right role - He's probably to 'individual' looking to go for anything too straight, but a Bond villian, or in something like the Matrix (like the Merovingian for example) or Kill Bill (!) - I could see him playing one of those kooky roles.

Maybe a John Waters film, as a sleazy pimp to a bunch of rent boys or something like that!

He seems like such a kill-joy of late though doesn't he, doing educational presentations for the JW's seems about as far as his acting scope might take him at the moment. sad

I think the part would have to be written especialy for him but if the circumstances were right, it would be great.

Half of being a great actor is having a great 'presence'. Prince has presence by the tonne.

What's another important acting skill? Timing. No-one can be a musician without timing.

I think P would be perfect for any 'enigmatic' role. He has a playful, mysterious & angry presence. Give him a playful, mysterious & angry role and Bob's yer Uncle.

Cheers

softandwet

in college i tried writing a comedy film, and the main guy in the film woos back his girlfriend when they bump into each other in a retro/80s bar (where they went on dates before awww) and he plays i wanna be your lover and the whole bar start dancing. loads of stupid stuff happens then it cuts to the barman and its prince cleaning glasses!

he looks at them all with that disgusted look on his face before floucing around and mincing out from behind the bar storming out the club. when he gets out from behind the bar you see he has to jump down from a little platform so he could reach the bar!

yes i was bored in college but my mates liked the script! ok!?

then for the film i was going to let prince play for 3 hours in the bar and release it on dvd, with my guesting on guitar naturally.
