This woman has orchestrated a lot of Prince music, but, who is she? Any information? Age? Works? Are Prince and she friends?

I love how she has arranged Prince songs. Why not an instrumental album with Prince music performed by the Clare Fischer orchestra?
On Kamastura the parts I love are the orchestra parts.

ok, people, a mistake (Prince's fault, I remember on The Truth he called Clare "ever beautiful" and I supposed it was a woman).

But, who do you think about HIS arrangements on Prince's songs?

I think Prince chose very well. Although he has not always used the work that he asked Clare Fisher to undertake, the combination of Prince's material and Fisher's distinctive arrangements are very interesting, and (as Prince also said) provide some fantastic musical 'colour' to the compositions.

I've had several email correspondances with Clare's lovely wife which I've posted here. I don't know how you search back posts but if you search mine, you'll find them with some cool information.

i thought Clare was a woman for years and years. Actually, I think it from some of pimpdoutt's posts that I found out otherwise. (thanks!)

and yes -- beautiful work!

Clare did some damn fine string arrangments for prince..

hope they continue to work together, and perhaps more strings..

Mighty fine arranger Clare Fischer. Folks, also bear in mind Prince knows and appreciates this too. How often have good arrangements been 'mixed out' of songs 'cos an artist wants strings but don't know how to handle them?

You'll 4get about Clare's contribution in Prince's music once you here his work in Rufus & Chaka's albums(Rufusized-Rufus ft Chaka Khan-Ask Rufus).

The wildest thang he did with Prince that could reach the same level as his stuff with Rufus is the song "Crystal Ball".

He's a damn good keyboardist too,,,not to mention he worked briefly as Dizzy Gillespie's musical director in the early 60's and also contributed in Dizzy's 1960 "A Portrait of Duke Ellington".

Clare Fischer also did the orchestration on Robert Palmer's Ridin' high album. Very nicely done. Palmer does some standards (Tender Trap, Witchcraft, etc) on this one. Some of the orchestrations are very well placed.

According to the liner notes in Crystal Ball...
"10. Strays Of The World -

originally intended 4 a Broadway musical. Prince would sometimes take meetings with potential collaborators 2 discuss ideas 4 musicals he had. The meetings usually turned the "inspirational well" on and complex introspective songs like this would flow 4th.
Michael B., Sonny T., Tommy B., and Mr. Hayes backed the Artist on this recording. Claire Fischer arranged and conducted the orchestration.



perhaps they were going to get together for a broadway musical...that would be interesting i think. my fav collaboration had to be on Old Friends 4 Sale
