What an asshole!!! A girl on german version of "American Idol" just did "Nothing compares 2 u" on the show. And she brought out that she will sing the PRINCE-version of the song... and she did a quite good job...
and then this Bohlen-Asshole (jury-member)asked she why she didn`t do the version of shinead o connor and said that prince´s version of the song is SHIT (no-one said that prince wrote the song of course either...)

there's really no comparison. yeah, its the same lyrical content but, really, is it the same song? one is a more soulful song and the other is a pop song. both versions are better than the family's but that is neither here nor there...lol. it depends on what the performer was tying to convey with the song. prince's version seems to be more hopeful whereas sinead's is much more broken hearted.

As far as I´m concerned it´s Prince´s song, no matter who else sung it later, the Family or Sinead, I couldn´t care less. I know most of you think Sinead´s version is far superior but that´s only because Prince´s official versions of that song ( with Rosie on THE HITS and then on ONA Live or RAVE-DVD ) weren´t that great, but just listen to Prince´s delivery of that song during the Nude-Tour or his live version from Buenos Aires ,Argentina and you´ll probably catch my drift. Of all the versions I´ve heard so far, the version from that Argentina concert is my personal favourite...much better than Sinead´s or the Family´s or even his own, later versions...just check it out..no Rosie, no gospel, no pop or whatever, pure passion and pain...

Look, i played a gig tonight. The dude who runs the place
just told me he has to pay 350€ for the GEMA.
The GEMA gives us, the artists, money whenever
you play a radio or TV gig. They also give you money if
you do a recording, let`s say a cd or something.
I work a lot, really a lot. But i don`t get that much money from
the GEMA. A few bucks here and there.
300 people showed up for the gig tonight. But those 350€ -
that`s the money the owner has to pay anyway. No matter
how many people show up. It`s because of the size of the venue.
So where`s all that money going to?
