the audio quality of bootlegs: explain! Maybe this is a naive question, but how come the quality of some prince bootlegs is superb, while others are just awful. How do bootleggers even get hold of them anyhow? ive always had the mental image of someone lurking behind the bins at paisley park waiting for them to toss out a 5th generation tape copy, or maybe someone standing in the studio with a special secret mic hidden up their sleeve!

ah, i see. well that explains how they get out then!
but what about things like the (fairly) recent "remastered" boot version of dream factory lp, does this mean that someone at paisleypk has been remastering this lp then slipped one out the door? | |

IIRC the remastering was done by T from an old cassette he had and then some bootlabel profitted off it... It's not a real remaster since it wasn't done from the mastertapes, but it's the closest to the real thing one can get on boot since he did an amazing job at it... Neversin. O(+>NIИ<+)O
