Prince has made so many good ballads over the years hes been around, but only one made a tear cum to my eye, he sings the lyrics like, is has actually happened! "sometimes it snow in april" it is so lovly, so beautiful, i have listened to it so many times, and never got bored of it, prince sings it with so much emotion, now why couldn't he do this to "nothing compares to u".
there are other ballads tht i really adore lol thts the next one "adore" the lyrics are really sweet, was this wrote for Mayte? another one tht springs to mind is "a case of u" it really nice,and when he says "U're in my blood like holy wine..." the second time, when he sings it really really high, it just sends a chill down my back!

there are just three great ballads, wot others are just amazing? and unforgetable?

'Sometimes it snows in April' is certainly one his best songs. It really feels like genuine emotion is conveyed in that song.
I think he should adopt that stripped down approach (just vocal and piano) to 'Nothing Compares 2u'. The version he does with horns is over the top and loses any feeling of sincerity.

Andy, Adore wasn't written for Mayte.

Adore dates from 1986, he met Mayte in 1991 I think (1990 earliest)

The first time I heard "Sometimes..." I fell in love with that song. It's marvellous. I felt something similar about "Condition of the Heart". And about The love we make, I hate U, One Nite Alone, Money don't matter 2night, Damn U, Venus de Milo, Purple Rain, and so on.
But definitely, Sometimes is one of my favourite songs.
