The Small (albeit Great) Joys of Being an Old-Time Prince Fan

Spent last nite with three friends of mine (Mr. E, Mr. J, Mr. A) who, like my humble self, are old-time Prince fans (well, Mr. E is a reformed Prince Fan. He turned his back on funk wink). We watched Prince videos (American Bandstand, Warehouse Rehearsals, Stockholm 86, Jay Leno 2001, etc...) and listened to old gems (Osaka 89, 80's outtakes and 12" version of most of 1978-1987 singles) and boy oh boy was that ever cool!! We're in our early 30s, and we're still into it! Such gatherings are well, scary in a way (watching Prince's appearance on the Muppet Show may leave you with deep and long-lasting mental and emotional scars), but they're so much fun! For example, Prince's outfit and clumsy performance in the American Bandstand are just plain hilarious (man, where on Earth did he find those tight golden sparkly pants!!! evillol)

Anyways, props and respect to Mr. J (the host of this party), Mr. E and Mr. A. and all praise to the inventors of Peer-to-Peer wink

Osaka 89 is DA Bomb!!! worship

I know man...I'm in my early 30s too. Too bad none of my friends share my liking for prince's music. Back in the day, all of them are into new wave. I like some of it but still can't compare to what prince is producing.
