OK, here's my topic for today: This is for the musicians like myself, but it could also be for the ones who aren't but can use their imaginations. Would you ever want to work with Prince on a song if he asked you to?

My answer: NO.

It's not that I wouldn't like it. I mean, I love the man to death and he's my #1 personal favorite. But with his reputation as a "control freak" and stuff, I don't know if things would work out. Plus I'd probably only embarrass myself. I'm just this dude with a guitar and nasty mind, and he's, like, GOD or something. I'd probably just freeze. I don't know. What about the rest of you?

i wouldn't mind -- we could make an album together -- i'd sing whatever he told me to. and I totally can't sing, but that doesn't seem to be too important with Assoc. Artists -- making it my only chance to have a shot at a recording career.

i'd definitely go in with the mindset that it would either never be completed, or completed but never released, or released on NPG Records and purchased by 253 people from the NPGMC. What's to lose???

Yes.Id start by making sure there was some actual quality control over the stuff he puts out.Next Id go over with him and get him to redo some of his work in HIGH RES audio so it can be heard like never before.Thinking about that just gives me chills.Third,Id probably write him some tunes or give him some thoughts on a few things.

I've written the lyrics to a few songs I've created, but that's about it. I would be thrilled at the prospect of him actually using one of them, though.

It's my dream. I compose a song, Prince and I make the arrangements, he produces the song, both play the instruments.
Then, he shows me a song by him and ask me to sing it. He plays all the instruments and background vocals and I sing.
Finally, we compose a song together, a duet. He plays piano and drums, I play guitar and bass.

And at last, my alarm clock rings, and what the fuck, it's time to work

i would.i would probably not be able to play in front of him so i'd hum everything and tell him what to play.he could help interpret.then,after he left i'd add the finishing touches.

on anything that has to do with artwork/graphix for his damned website, sure i would. i could do much better than those spindly, odd-lookin illustrated figures like he had featured on the npgmc site last year. total eyesores.

...then again, my work may be a little too weird/raunchy for even him.

The song I'd like to collaborate is the song of life. In a key of life, in any case. I'd like the song to take the form of a game: football, soccer, something like that. The way to win is to not cheat. Winning a losing come second to the game itself. I'd like to help Prince by doing some legwork for him. But he would be the man of the moment when it came to the shot of truth (a lyric maybe). I would be the graffiti bridge between the game and him, and he would be the graffiti bridge between me and the players/fans.

i definately would first like to have a looong chat with him. Maybe during a coupleof days even. About anything except music! Then hang out in my appartment and listen to music all day long, maybe tow days! I'll let him listen my bootlegs and other rare stuff i have. I would like to see the expression on his face when hearing his own music comming through the speakers at a "fan's" home!
Then i would like to cook for him, and have a sauna with him, chatting about what we could do together.
Then next thing for me would be lettin' Prince fool around in the studio without any preparations for a specific song. Just push the record button and let him go mad crazy on any instrument of his choice.
Then he needs to give the tape to me, and let me fool with it for a while. Then i'll be back, and ask him what he thinks about it, then i'll like to him to write lyrics on it, fool around on other instruments to add a certian flavour to it. Then listen together to this 2nd shit, write donw some remarks, and have a great breakagain like watching a game, or have a swim, or go to a museum! deffinately a museum, yeah! that would be it. Then i'll mess around again with the new recordings, and then after a month or so i'd like to call him up and surprise him with a deffinate mix of what he didin the studio.
If he doesn't like it, i'm keeping it, and he can f*ck off. (joking of course) And if he likes it, i'llkeep it as well, and let him long for it... really hard.))

Sure, but it would have to be on my turf-- painting-- because I have zero musical ability. I do have a good ear for music though, so I guess I could just listen to him record/play and keep him away from rapping and reggae-style chants.

I would definitely want to but I dont' think it would go well. That's kinda the way I feel about a lot of my favorite artists...Sting, Prince, Miles Davis (were he 2 B alive), etc...they all have very strong personalities as do I, so we'd probably wind up taking swings at each other. Although having said that, I would LOVE to pick the guy's brain! All the shit he must know...man, I'd love 2 sit down musician 2 musician and talk 2 the guy.
