Actually, I have the older book which stops at 1992. The upgraded version would be Days of Wild, which was released in 2000, I think. That one also includes a CD of material too.

Days Of Wild: http://www.uptown.se/

That is very much a chronology though, not specifically a biography (plus they have The Vault coming out next year - check site for that).

If you want a proper "biography" book, check DMSR, written by Per Nilsen of Uptown magazine above, it finishes at the end of 1987, but that's probably to it's credit, otherwise it would have been too sketchy.

It's fantastically detailed, and with Days Of Wild, will give a very detailed overall picture of Prince's music and life in that period (Days Of Wild goes upto 2000/1).

Out of date and superceeded by "Days of Wild" published by Uptown.

Per Nilsen's "Dance Music Sex Romance" is a more expanded bio version of the Days Of Wild material, though it only goes up to 1987. great great book.

I've got Turn It Up 2.0, Days Of Wild, and the first pressing of Per's Prince: A Documentary.

Do I need DMSR?

Yes! How can I say yes enough. dmsr is an amazing book. I just hope he gets around to the second part of the book (87-present).

My question is... is there a book out there that talks about when Prince recorded what? DMSR mentions some of the tracks and dates and I assume most of that came from some book about his sessions. Is there a book of that and is it still in print? Anyone have the title?

Days Of Wild has much of the nuts-and-bolts and when and where that you may be looking for for songs. Turn It Up 2.0 is also a good source. Got both off of Ebay. You need a microscope to read Days Of Wild though... lol
