sometimes the npgmc makes me really wanna quit prince

I know its immature to feel that way but some of them are a trip...I seriously feel like the dark side is getting stornger..but instead of becoming a rabid con-Puprle, Id just serioiusly quit him. 20 damn years for nothing. And it would sort of be good to get rid of all prince relate dmaterial...just dump it. Cleansing like..sort of like when Lenny cut his locks and what it meant to him doing it as it does for others...sooner or later that day wil have to come. And the Fzam Jam is a suitable stopping point. Th e 20 yr PR anniversary and Hall Of Fame activity etc is goig to be wild..it would be cool to just say "I used ot be such a fanatic..now its cool to just give props as golf clap and get on with things..". I think thats th e only way to overcome th e sickness and with the npgmcs help it can be done lol.

Im glad its funny to some etc but Inknow yo can say "bullshit he's a liar" but to be cleansed is to throw it away..,my better half just said "why throw it away--isint that extreeme"..and my reply is that it feels tainted now...but to be actually cleansed would mean actually trashing it ina dump--and for that too happen I would need proff and Im willing to give proof of that hapening if it happens that will be un challengeable..if that happens which it may well be..I hope prince realizes what those who are representing him are doing etc

Prince and his fans have a dysfunctional relationship, just like most families.

Ya still gotta go to turkey dinner, though.

I apologize for being a big baby about it but this is the place where I vent and write about it. I appreciate a forum where this can be done...where it is allowed. Yes I realize that this means that maybe Ive put to much stock into it...but liek Ive said Im hardcore..20 years hardcore. I didnt ask to be hardcore but t he music made that shit happen. And when I am excited etc or whatever about the man or music I usually write about it ...so I guess when things go awry I can do the same --I dunno. This whole ting is crazy and Ibve invested so muich time into this that Ive neglected os many other thingsd..and for what..its not appreciated by him or his etc...I mean Im not natasha etc but I wonderif he really does give a fuck about his fans etc sometimes and how we appreciated his music...aint nobody fault but mine in th e long run..but Im addicted and the bullshit form his site etc is helping me with breaking it hopefully...at least some can laugh at someones breakdown or break thrus online and say "sho am glad that aint me..I never got that damn deep..ha!". But I dont mind.

beautiful..and I mean that...now see..this si what I nmeed right now. This gives me hope and makes me put shitn in perspective..this is dysfunctional. Thanks. But we gotta still get together for holidays etc..and thats what it feels like--daily with p and npgmc etc is like 365 holidays a year with a dysfucntional family--sure we all are to blame for our part. Squirrlegrease thank you for putting it inton perpsective for me again. Doesnt excuse them or me for that matter,..but still

yup--I relaize whileit woould be nice...I guess I feel "they" dont deserve to namecheck me. I know thats crazy because "he's" the star, not me. But BuillyJack Bitch, Paul Puink of the month etc shows Prince is a pimp sometimes but also if u say bad things that is what gets to him..he fails to realize his treatment ofothers is not all hunky dory sometimes either..and yes I know he doesnt treat his fans on a perosnal level--thats crazy--I mean in general lol

Dude, just stop hanging around that website and you'll shut out most of the bad vibes. The only time I visit the club is when they have a new mp3 up or they start selling a new CD. It's all about the music for me...

But I enjoy some of the people there. I mean I want to be a part of the actual official site as well, hell its 20 years. Id never thought Id feel that way as some of you who deride it..I understand why you do and always have ---I thought I could be neutral about it and tried it..but they won.

nod exactly. you gotta deal with the drunken uncle, the grandma who's just about to just throw up her hands and be like "fuck ya'll!", the loud-assed cousin and them bad-assed kids of theirs...still, they're kinfolk, so to speak. might not like/get along with some of 'em, but they're still in the mix.

when i started up on the org and within the online communities about 4 years back, a lotta people were still pissed off at prince (for them 'cease-and-desist' letters n'chit) and callin it quits on fandom and leavin in droves. i was still wet behind the ears in knowin about ol' boy's music and everything but as i started learnin more and more about what he's done i was like, "they're leavin all of this behind? fuck a website bein shut down, why leave all of this?!" that's why i'm still around after 8 years--he's pretty much a living legend within my lifetime, which is cool.

and yeah, the brotha has been fuckin up--royally--in some instances as of late. i know it, we know it, and i know full-well p knows it his damned self. can't surround yourself with yes-muthafuckas forever, y'know, think everything's alright. his time is comin where he gon' have to see what's goin on within his fanbase/website and all that...ain't no escapin that shit.

thank you and that means a lot. even if its just the web etc..its funny..after all these years he finally gets a website and one would think that would be the ultimate etc..but in 6 months he's mamaged to turn objectivity into bitterness. I know Im dramatic but thats how I actually feel and if u were in fornt of me thats what I would say and if I were interviwed thas what I would tell barbra walters, and if I meet him thats what I would tell him. I know he is human and he probably si funny as hell but I can almost se how soem of those around him have -could be hurt by him. How he lets certain things happen..

SPIN magazine got it wrong..they titled the article
"Black Narcissus"

it should have been

Narcisstic Bastard

and me of all people should knwo the danger of dealing with one who has narcisstic perosnaolity dosorder or traits of that

thank you for your grace and humor in what you just wrote..seems odfd. I came aboard when all that drama happened--right after the CB release fiasco etc..and I was like "so what"/ Seems like I missed the boat on bitterness and came late once again! Im always late. But its weird that thru all that the one thing that makes it bittersweet isnt the people and nbullshit I been thru the last 5 years on the net but his own website..is that ironic or what..alanis aoint got shit on me. I got played. I hope hje writes something so mindblowing to get rid of the jadedness.

Anxiety

RD, punkinpiesweetiepoopgummiesock:

PERSPECTIVE, BABY.

PUT DOWN THE MATCHES.

TAKE A DEEP BREATH.

I made a decision today to remove myself from that part of the club with which I felt really uncomfortable. I've decided that from now on, I'm not going to be a part of the "fam community" @ the U Tell Us boards.

This decision came after a browbeating I got on one of the threads which really opened my eyes to the direction that environment has taken. I'm not interested in talking trash about the folks over there, but let's just say it's not an environment in which I care to participate.

And it hasn't hurt my enjoyment of Prince's work at all. I don't think he really follows his own site much right now - I get the idea he has much bigger fish to fry at the moment, and trusts the moderators to keep the thing going.

And I don't really blame the moderators - I think most of 'em come from a background of HTML design, and don't really have much training or finesse in the fragile-yet-predictable world of online social politics. I think they get some crazy-ass requests from the boss, and they follow them out as faithfully as they know how. There might be a little purple kool-aid on toppa that, but I think they've chilled out a lot throughout the year.

I would love...*LOVE*...to point a finger at certain club members who made my time over there less than pleasant, particularly in more recent times...but I don't even think it's the fault of the particular individuals who have irked me beyond irkdom.

I think it's just an incredibly uptight, anxious, condescending, "fammier-than-thou", aspiring alpha-fan ENERGY that's sucking all the fun outta the place.

And, ya know, I've encountered this energy from Prince freaks years before the club ever started. I've seen it at shows and I've seen it at gatherings.

And I've never EVER had a use for it.

Such foolishness has nothing to do with the mountains of fantastic music that I've come to know better than my own mama's voice over the years.

Nor does it even have to do with Prince's crazy-ass shenanigans, outrageous statements, stoopid political rants, or any of his other forms of self-sabotage.

And I'll be gottDAMMED if I'll ever let it be about a group of bullies who've deemed themselves the high holy schnookums of purple buttkissers.

Naw. The music's the most important thing. It's the only thing, really. The rest is gravy.

And folks can HAVE my gravy.

So don't throw ya goodies out - put 'em in boxes and stash 'em in the basement for a while if ya gotsta...but one day all this NPGMC bulletin board foolishness will be meaningless. The music, however, will still be as good as it ever was.

Don't do it.
I've done this twice (in 93 and again in 95).
In '93, I sold them to a resale shop. In 95, I threw everything away in my dumpster.

Both times I eventually had to buy everything back, as I'm sure you will. I think I spent $700 in Best Buy buying everything they had at once. It was crazy.

Do not throw your stuff away... after 20 years there's bound to be some nostalgia. Just push it all under your bed until the next wave of interest come around.

I'm doing that right now...

I'll join the club next year.

I'll buy stuff from it.

I'll check whatever news or rants they may or may not post.

That's about it, though.

Like I said over at the club, I have no issues about supporting Prince, even at his most assholiolistic...I just don't need other folks defining how I should be enjoying his work. Nope, uh-uh.

And usually there isn't. The attitudes over there are so 'big brotherish' and I just ain't vibin' at all. I can't see myself going back again. Particularly with the dearth of tunes available.
