Prince Rocks the Hall The Purple Badness is taking his rightful seat in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a 2004 inductee. It was announced Thursday, that not only Prince, but also the late George Harrison among seven other 2004 inductees will all become immortalized members of Rock and Roll history. Joining Prince and Harris in the “Performer” category is: Bob Seger; British fusion group Traffic; Texas boogie band ZZ Top; singer-songwriter Jackson Browne; and rhythm & blues vocal group The Dells. They will be a part of the 19th annual ceremony in New York on March 15. Harrison died of cancer in November 2001 at age 58, but was previously inducted in 1988 as a member of the Beatles. Prince, who is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, keyboard player and dynamic dancer, blossomed to the highest ranks with the movie and album "Purple Rain," which included the hit single "When Doves Cry." "Purple Rain" reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard and box office charts. Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record.
