Purple Rain. Plain and Simple.
Hey, sometimes i prefer listening to Parade also, but if u'r a longtime fan of any artist, and appreciate his/her whole body of work, the 'classics' tend to get underappreciated (yeahyeah Parade is classic also). This is understandable, and when the question is which album u LIKE better, i might say Parade also (actually i wouldn't, but it was possible). But the question was 'which album IS better'. There can b no discussion. "It's better 2 B hated 4 what U R than 2 B loved 4 what U R not."

Purple Rain has overall stronger songs. Parade has a better sound and feel. I give them a tie. | |

I think Parade has aged much better, Baby, I'm A Star and Lets Go Crazy sound dated and a bit stagnant. I'd like to give the nod to the funky Parade, but my heart says with songs like The Beautiful Ones, When Doves Cry (pioneering) and Purple Rain, PR must win out. | |
