Does Universal already own Prince's catalogue? From their website http://new.umusic.com/overview.aspx :
UMPG also owns or administers a multitude of prestigious catalogs including Interscope; Def Jam Music, All Nations Music, Charlie Daniels, Matraca Berg, Prince, Forerunner Music, Epitaph, Greenwich/Barry, Momentum Publishing, and John Philips.
Also Universal released a Prince hits cd in Asia. I have pictures of the front and back but my hosting is down right now. I can send it to someone if they want. Sorry if this has all been mentioned before, I'm new here. | |

Universal as in UMPG (Universal Music Publishing Group)administer the publishing rights for Prince's catalogue, as they have done for several years. So if a Prince song is played on the radio (regardless of whether the master recording is owned by Prince or Warner Brothers), there is money due to Prince as owner of the song.
