How long has Jay Z's Black Album been out? I went into HMV yesterday and there it was, with the same plain black cover as the official release of The Black Album. Obviously a homage to Prince, I think.

Oh yeah, in that track "encore" there's a falsetto/scream that sounds just like Prince, as a matter of fact if he said it was I'd believe it.

I can see where you're coming from, but it's pretty derivitive any ways, not necessarily Prince, or Pop Life.

Is this stuff really riding high in the conciousness of the USA?

This is just drivel, it's not even music, it's some loop with some nasty pimp talking bollocks over the top, and not even nice tasty bollocks, it's the same shit we've been hearing from rappers over and over and over and over for the past 15 years.

Can't these no talent dumb-fucks come up with anything new to rap about?

Jay-Z did try to get Prince to contribute to this album. nod

Supposedly Prince never returned his calls.

I know, but that doesn't mean he's ripping him off with this song (as insinuated in the original post)

I love the Neptunes beats because they steal from Prince, curtis Mayfield, etc. but they are not songs, they are just beats with 2-4 measure loop that repeats. Listen to Justin, Jay Z, Britney or No Doubt, and these "songs" really don't go anywhere from the first beat to the last. I do like the production, but the songs need work! It's really sad what passes for a song these days.
