I'm doing my first ever DJ set on Saturday night. I want to drop just ONE Prince track. Orgers please offer just ONE title which u think would work best. Please dont give me a list as i can do that myself and it doesnt help me at all. Also, take into consideration that the people are not all Prince fans. It will have to appeal to the majority of those on the dance floor.

Please feel free to suggest white label Remixes of Prince tracks which i may not be aware of but could possibly use? Possibly a house track?

You don't say what type of club it is, or what music they play, but I used to work in clubs in about 98/99 and the Kiss VS Da Funk (Prince vs Daft Punk) track used to always go down a storm.

i would play raspberry beret the 12 inch version or the white label version of kiss.(daft punk)

if not those...play erotic city or when doves cry.

all of these track are around 120-125bpm and can mix in to any dance/house set easily.

I feel it is my obligation to play some Prince, but I'm a bit nervous of how it's gonna go over. I was thinking Erotic City or DMSR, but then I thought maybe "Let's Pretend" would go well with Kelis "Milkshake." The club is all R&B and hip-hop and I would be taking a chance with the old school Prince so I wanna get it right.

I'll give the Daft Punk/Kiss a listen. I think it is really sad that Michael has been reduced to one song- "Billie Jean." and Prince is also one song- "kiss." No kids care or know too much else by these guys.

What do you think about Missy Elliot's "Pass the Dutch" into "HOT THING?" The bass lines are similar, but I'm not sure how "Hot Thing" will go over...what do you think?

But if it has to be only one...play the extneded version of "Kiss". And turn up the volume at the guitar part when the normal edited version ends...

or if you want a housey groove you could do Gett Off house style, I find Days of Wild and Pussy Control go over wuite well too.

I DJ'ed for three years at a club every Fri and Sat night. It was a mainly hip hop R&B crowd, too. BELIEVE me...Prince is very cool with this kinda crowd. Just DONT, I repeat DONT play some white label remix shit. No one wants that. Give 'em old skool.

These traks always got the crowd hyped up when dropped in at the right time...Kiss, like I said above, Erotic City mixed in to or out of either Laid Back's "White Pony" or George Clinton's "Atomic Dog", Vanity 6's "Nasty Girl"then mix in Britneys "Slave 4 U" (u have to slow down Vanity and speed up Britney), When Doves Cry, Depending on how the crowd is reacting u could go with Housequake, Pop Life!(definately!), Days of Wild, Pussy Control, oh and Come On (the regular mix) mixes perfectly into or out of Lauren Hill's Lost One!! Cool! Hope this helps y'all...just feel it.
