When Was It? I started following his music religously after 1999 (82 on) but it took me until 93 to see him. Of course he didn't tour the US for 5 years (it's hard to imagine that in light of recent times). I first saw him in San Francisco 93 both nights but found out on my way home about his infamous aftershow at THE DNA LOUNGE & it was too late to get in. I've made up for it big time, probably have seen him perform close to 35 times maybe more since & a slew of aftershows & one memorable paisley gig in Sept.2000. I think it was Blackwell's first "live" gig with the man & it took place in the Love4OneAnother Room. He started off on Habibi with this long egyptian tinged instramental & played an Undertaker/Love Bizarre groove on keyboards that was ridiculous. His energy was on 10 that night. I also remember he kept squirting Larry's Wife with bottled water which pleased me to no end. The gig ended with Kip singing "The Light" by Common & Prince doing background vocals from the soundboard. Anyone from Minny at that show? What was your first tour?
