Prince creating a buzz again? Ok, I'm not suggesting Prince may be due a Purple Rain popularity resurgence here, but bear with me. Has anyone noticed the slow trickle of industry props and artistic references (read: samples) of Prince recently? just take a look at the last 20 news items. It kinda looks like the world is remembering Prince exists.
I don't know how it is where you guys are, but I'm on a music course so tend to hang out with a lot of ... well, musicians. And the collective hearbeat tends to whisper "well, I'm not a fan of Prince, but I sho am gonna see him at Glastonbury". And if Glastonbury is the anchor of some new Greatest Hits tour and that rumour on the popbitch.com mailing list (about Purple Rain getting a rerelease in 2004 with extra stuff) was right... man... I know I've been saying it since Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic, but ... there might be a comeback you guys! Not that we care about Prince's popularity of course. I just want people to agree with me when I go on about how ace he is. Any thoughts? Or are you all just puzzled? heh.

Prince has always gotta respect from the musicians...they
see how talented he is. The music-buying public is another story. We are the few in-the-know. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

yeah, I'm hearing more references to Prince, for whatever reason.
And for some strange reason my students (8th graders) seem to be discovering "Purple Rain" & "1999", they're evn buying those two albums and telling me about it. It's a tripp ~KiKi

I don't think it's that people think it's wrong, they would like it, but they really don't care either way. It's not as important to be commercial anymore...we don't wish for him to be as popular as P Diddy, or Avril, or Nelly. It'd be cool, but it's not important. Hope that made sense, lol ~KiKi

Well, I'm in England and yes... I'm hearing and seeing Prince everywhere.
They played Little Red Corvette on Steve Wright's Radio 2 show today. I heard The Most Beautiful Girl In The World twice this week: Once when I was walking past a building site and it was blasting out of the construction workers' radio; Then I saw the video on VH-1 Classic yesterday. I've also heard Manic Monday and Nothing Compares 2 U on national radio this week.

The man is definitely making a comeback of some sort, today I heard some very old and rare tracks of him amongst many other more popular ones. Okay, this happened in my own house on my own headphones but hey, works for me..
