Song of the day: Shy

Funky, catchy & a curious lyric.

Another one of my faves.

Very decent song.
Terrifivcmeody and choice of instruments.

A true Prince classic IMHO!

The way it ends is great, it builds up with a guitar, and then ends with one stroke on an acoustic guitar. Great!!!

Great Song!!! worship

"Smooth dark skin in hot virgin white, looks like we're gonna take the long way home tonight..." I think confuse

The man is a wonderful lyricist.

One of my all-time favourites.

I love the sexiness in his voice when he starts to sing...

"after a month of just bein alone she said..." Mmmm.

And the little twang after it.

i *love* the guitar in this song.

the only thing that bothers me is the lyric:
"after a look much louder than words she said, 'i passed my initiation/a friend of mine, he got killed and in retaliation/i shot the boy "pop pop!", twice in the head/no regrets, no sorrow - i'm goin' back tomorrow 2 make sure he's dead/cuz if I don't, they'll call me a chicken...'"

hmm uhhh, couldn't he think of some other way of pointing tough, yet immature behavior?? i always thought this, kinda dirtied the song. know what i mean?

I kind of think that's the point. Beautiful tune, great delivery, harsh content. Juxstaposing the LA fantasy with harsh reality.
