MJ supposedly flopped and sold around 10million last time out. TRC sold how many? 150,000? Mike will always be more commercially viable than Prince, not that i care, i respect Prince for totally different reasons to why i like MJ. But just one thing, they're both survivors in the business. and they're both heroes of mine, they pretty much dominate my music collection. As long as they keep going, i'll be a happy man. jackson- 10 million prince - 150.000 ok, but u have 2 user relative net terms. How much MJ spend on promoting??? maybe prince did better. Maybe. But there are artists and labels that spent more to promote their stuff than Sony stumped up for Mike, and still sold less, and that says what? Despite everything that has been thrown at him, Michael Jackson remains a hugely significant, influential and popular artist around the world. not really, he only influences kids...i mean lil boys. he doesnt influence anybody anymore. maybe inspire, but his music is old and dated. he couldnt release an album every year cuz his music would bore the whole world.

First of all, for an album that took years to make, do u friggin think it's fair to dismiss it after a couple, maybe even just one listen?? Do you think it's fair to make an assumption like that? A lot of the points you mentioned also come down to taste and perception, not facts. Yes, I like MJ, before u ask.

PRINCE: A SUPERNOVA
MJ: A TWINKLING STAR Commercial success might go to MJ due to the mentality of the general public.

Was wondering, can you please explain what you mean by "The Chocolate Invasion"? I ask because I haven't been able to join the NPGMC yet and was thinking I've missed out forever on hearing that stuff, but if there's a way I can *legally* purchase all the stuff he'd released so far with the NPGMC I would be eternally grateful so I won't have missed out. Thanks.

A lot of the points you mentioned also come down to taste and perception, not facts. Yes, I like MJ, before u ask. In this case I think it's very fair to make the assumption that the Invincible album would be good based on the time and effort it took. Why? Because has not released a solo album that is anything short of fantastic in its own right. Because Dangerous, HIStory and Blood are by far his greatest accomplishments as a awriter, vocalist and arranger. Because he worked with a lot (too many, in fact) of the very best people in the business on it. Because he is Michael Jackson. I agree that many points I made are subjective in ways. It could be argued that Emancipation is a greater album than HIStory. It could also be argued that Bon Jovi are better than Bob Dylan. So yeah, it's down to taste but even tho Jovi are inconsequential next to Dylan, 'Something To Believe In' and 'Prayer' are better songs than anything on 'Down In The Groove'. The point is that even tho one may prefer to listen to Prince proclaiming his freedom on the song 'Emancipation' than MJ tearing out his vocal chords screaming 'Slander, you say it's not a sin, but with your pen you torture men so why do we keep fooling ourselves?' on 'Tabloid Junkie', it simply cannot be substantially argued that Prince's song is of higher artistic importance and worth. MJ has sold 18 million copies of a £27.99 album for a reason. To be honest, my rant was aimed at removing some of the blank ammo of the closed-minded "Wacko Jacko" haters in the Prince community. I think I did it quite well. I'm in no way denying Prince's utter brilliance. He's probably the greatest rhythm guitarist ever. But people belittle MJ's work, citing 70's/80's disco pop as his greatest efforts when his 90's output speaks in a higher language they probably can't understand. Same way that if you put 'All Along The watchtower' on the radio today, not a single kid would prick up and investigate. Is It Scary, Morphine, They Don't Care About Us, Stranger In Moscow...it's all there if you can open your mind. Black people talk about it being time to open their arms so 'Mike' can come home. Trouble is, he's been home all along. He never stopped being black. Dangerous and Invincible are as black as black and I seem to remember They Don't Care About Us having a black childern's choir and being shot in Rio. Ah well.

point taken littleredcorvette1.
As an aside: I myself am sick of the Thriller comparisons. I think Dangerous was far better and his best album to date.
