I thought so, at least unofficially...(The reason why I'm asking this ? is that I mentionned this song to a friend of mine recently thinking I did not know it; he told me I knew it as it was a very well-known and widely bootlegged song, albeit sometimes known under a different name - that I forgot!!! It's mistakenly called 'A Better Place 2 Die' by bootleggers

Damn... I thought you meant something completely different...
But then yes, there is another title for "Moonbeam Levels" that retarded bootleggers conjured up instead of simply asking the title...
It used to be also know as "A Better Place 2 Die"...

2. If I Had A Harem
3. The Voice Inside
4. Melody Cool
5. Stimulation
6. Elephants & Flowers
7. God Is Alive
8. Still Would Stand All Time

I corrected it in the edit...
But where did you get the tracklist above?

2. "If eye Had A Harem"
3. "Melody Cool"
4. "Stimulation"
5. "Elephants & Flowers"
6. "The Voice Inside"

It was a Paisley Park in-house tape that 'an ex-WB employee' had.

It's been a while since I've heard it (unfortunately I couldn't
copy it)... but I listened to it and wrote down the tracklist at
the time (so I know I didn't make a mistake). Here's what I
remember about it...

'Rave' was the same as the circulating boots (very close to the
released version).

'If eye Had a Harem' was also the same as the circulating
boots, I think. (though I do remember thinking it sounded
very 'demo-ey' compared with the other tracks)

'The Voice Inside' segued into 'Melody Cool' (which had
somewhat different lyrics)

There was a big gap between 'Melody cool' and 'Stimulation'
(which I think signified the split between side 1 and side 2)

'Stimulation' was a sleazy-grind kinda song. A bit like 'G-Spot'
crossed with 'We Can Funk'.

'Elephants & Flowers' was the version with different lyrics
that's circulating.

'God Is Alive' was very tight into 'Still Would Stand All Time'.
(didn't actually segue, but there's absolutely no gap
between the tracks).

the original recording of 'rave unto the joy fantastic' (song)
that i have is 5'20" long--it sounds as if the first few seconds
of the song are missing. is this the one that's circulating or are
there others?

and furthermore, i thought 'stimulation' was a track of which
people knew it existed, but which was not circulating? how
about 'good judy girlfriend'? is that one circulating?

Also the first config was dated 10/18/1988 with "Underground" as its working-title...

i'm pretty confused at this point. i've heard of several configurations of 'rave' over the past few years. i've compared them with what's been discussed here in this thread and there are a couple differences here and there. can someone clear this up for me? neversin? borisfishpaw? can you tell me which is correct and which isn't?

It's difficult to give a concrete answer, as Prince often puts
together many configurations of potential albums on cassette
before the final running order is decided. Sometimes albums
are concieved quite quickly (like Lovesexy) and the track-
listing changes very little. Other times the title and tracklisting
undergo massive changes before the album is released or
shelved. There are still 'early configurations' of old albums
comming to light for the first time even now.

I really hope this sequence turns up sometime in clear quality - I'd love to hear it.

Interesting that this is such a short album - 8 songs, 35 minutes...
