In the old days before the internet, we'd never get to hear about albums in production and projects under construction so their cancellation wouldn't be a problem. The internet has provided us with WAY too much information. And people like Prince are under pressure to provide incessant streams of info to satisfy... look at the moaning on the org when the news section on NPGMC isn't updated often enough. So another Prince project gets shelved? Surely that can't be a shock to you. Then quite unexpectedly he gives us a new song... and still you whine. Really you should take a look at yourselves. Its shameful.

Here's my take: I see you pick me out from the crowd, could it be the way I play guitar? Master of the song, not too loud One day maybe I will be a star I see you pick me out like you want something Shame on you baby, can't you see this ring? How do you want me to do girl? How do you want me to do babe? How do you want me to do girl? How do you want me to do babe? I got a woman, you got your man so we've got to do what's right You'd get 'behected' (?) in other men's if I were in your arms tonight You try to get me under that I say plunder Boy oh boy, what a scam How do you want me to do girl? How do you want me to do babe? (Uuh) How do you want me to do girl? (Ooh) How do you want me to do babe? You picked me out of the crowd and Ooh just so bold and so proud and Just like you want ev'rybody to just say Wow! Didn't her mamma teach her better? Ouw, dressed like that somebody's gonna get her! I see you picked me from the crowd, could it be the way I play guitar? Master of the song, not too loud I don't ever wanna be where you are How do you want me to do girl? I've heard of this title somewhere before??? (I think in the unreleased songs section of the controversy book?) the production sounds a lot like 'wherever u are, wherever u go'. there was something said by prince online before Rave came out about him having dusted off the old Linn drums and having already finished 10 songs for "a new album"! But I reckon Arista/Clive Davis convinced him to vary the styles on the album (which became Rave) to make it more commercial (and fucking it up in the meanwhile!) so this could be one of those unused songs from an early configuration of "Rave". But if it was mentioned in the controversy book that would pre-date it way before 1999. Maybe he had it written/demoed for a long time - and just updated the production - anyone have anymore info on this song?

I really don't care that there is no Chocolate Invasion but I don't think anyone should get upset about it as we should be used to the carrot dangling thing by now. I no longer have any expectations. Prince does what he wants to do, as always. It would have been nice if it hadn't been brought up in the first place but...oh, well.

OK folks. Someone please tell me the guest ID and password for the glam slam vip room. I'm a member, but I can't remember the ones for that room.
That's really annoying, if you're a member you shouldn't have to enter different passwords just to get into a room!

Never mind. The room decided to let me in just now without any ID... Cool!
I like this song very much. Put this on wax with Reflection, Musicology, and 8 or 9 other tracks and you've got a really nice new little album!

My only problem with the "surrendering expectations" idea (which in theory sounds pretty good), is that Prince/NPGMC is as guilty of building up expectations as we are of having expectations. If you don't have the product up and ready to go, don't advertise it! Keep that pop-up ad on the shelf for a while 'til ya know all systems are go.
Other artists are great about giving little hints and mentions about projects that are in the pipeline or things that they'd like to work on in the vague future...it whets the appetite but at the same time they send a message of "it might or might not happen, but I'd like to do it"...meanwhile, at NPGMC there's this whole anticipatory rush they have to whip up..."invading yo living room" and whatnot... I just wish NPGMC would look before they leap once in a while - it always seems like they're flying by the seat of their pants, and it really doesn't have to be that way.

A laughable excuse for not delivering the goods (the bug was probably that it cost too much to produce for ol' Scrooge). Let's us listen to one measely low quality 96kpbs streaming mp3, not for download, to soften the blow of criticism at failing to delivery on a promised new release, *again* (getting quite good at that now ain't he). At least we have the music already, unlike so many a project that get's shelved. You got that right! (even though I don't have the music already...) As for What do U want me 2 do? Well, if u ask me, get to work Prince! Focus on quality rather than quantity! This "Been-There,Done-That" song is nothing but fast-food lounge music I'd say! And the aftertaste doesn't last and last...Man, get ur act 2gether buddy! Jesus... you people. Since when did Prince ever deliver every project discussed? Don't get me wrong, I'd love to get Chocolate Invasion. But I'm glad they pushed it back a little. I've got so much stuff I want to buy before the year ends, I don't think my wallet can handle it!
I just try to enjoy everything as it comes. Besides, I think I'd be more excited about hearing a new album full of songs that Prince has worked on within the past year. I think he's in a good place musically, and he doesn't need to impress anybody with something outrageous anymore, just write a good catchy little melody, and I'll be happy.

The CI project was never scheduled for a precise date. Idf there is a problem about it well, too bad!! What if the problem is the ones who whined about the fact that they had to pay two years membership to get the songs and that "we are thrown another collection of material made jst for the money..." Oh well, if that's the way you look at it, sure. I suppose I'm just not in an indignant consumer type of mood today. It's a nice song I didn't expect to get and it sounds fine to my damaged hearing

softandwet said: i cant explain what prince era this song reminds me of, the keys solo is obviously new and the verse is so current prince jazz style, but to be honest, if norah jones did this people would be licking its anus. i think its great. the chorus hook is great. if this is the quality of his new album surely it wont be far behind TRC? the reason i say this is that it seems hes got the jazz and funk but lost the preaching. is it just me of is he listening to the fans? cos i know full well someone was complaining the other day about lack of vip room mp3s and stuff. so hes put one on to make up for lack of choc invasion which is a shame, but i dont see why people are blaming prince sooo much?
so far possible tracks for new album musicology: supposedly nothing great studio but absolutely amazing live life o the party: great live party song dont make me sleep on the couch: noones sure if this is new or a set piece to improvise on, but supposedly a fun little number the one he played briefly in hong kong and one other gig?baby baby: another live crowd pleasing chant-a-long? what do u want me 2 do: according to reviews on here, generally quite pleased, and this is from first listen. only one or two haters and i personally really like it. plus rhonda smokes on bass! so surely this is a good time to be a prince fan even if choc invasion has been cancelled? I don't think Rhonda play the bass , I thoughts Prince play all the instruments.

What is the REAL reason behind the cancellation? Prince's got to be constipated. Hence the lack of chocolate invasion. That's the only rational explanation There are no kings on this Earth, only Princes
