lol quite an interesting choice of song too to give away after a botched release

What have I gotta do to please these insatiable fans?

I thought the song title was rather ironic too wink

What does he have to do?

Just say "I am releasing this album, on this day, here's where you can get it", and then deliver on what he advertised.

Like every other artist out there, not difficult at all really is it, even for an independent artist (who has, let's face it, released a whole bunch of records independently, you'd think he'd got his shit together by now).

Lame.

A laughable excuse for not delivering the goods (the bug was probably that it cost too much to produce for ol' Scrooge).

Let's us listen to one measely low quality 96kpbs streaming mp3, not for download, to soften the blow of criticism at failing to delivery on a promised new release, *again* (getting quite good at that now ain't he).

At least we have the music already, unlike so many a project that get's shelved.

You got that right! (even though I don't have the music already...)

As for What do U want me 2 do? Well, if u ask me, get to work Prince! Focus on quality rather than quantity! This "Been-There,Done-That" song is nothing but fast-food lounge music I'd say! And the aftertaste doesn't last and last...Man, get ur act 2gether buddy!

Jesus... you people.
Since when did Prince ever deliver every project discussed? In the old days before the internet, we'd never get to hear about albums in production and projects under construction so their cancellation wouldn't be a problem. The internet has provided us with WAY too much information. And people like Prince are under pressure to provide incessant streams of info to satisfy... look at the moaning on the org when the news section on NPGMC isn't updated often enough.
So another Prince project gets shelved? Surely that can't be a shock to you. Then quite unexpectedly he gives us a new song... and still you whine.
Really you should take a look at yourselves. Its shameful.

omg "Shameful"???!!! Isn't it too strong a word? I was listening to Around the World in A Day this morning when I got this new song. And you know what? There's such a creative gap between the two! The only thing that bothers me is the rather poor quality of this song.

Blah blah blah complain about the complainers blah blah... rolleyes

Back in the day when projects were merely discussed that nothing actually came of, it wasn't a problem. After all, nothing had actually been promised and it was interesting to see what might or might not have been. However, when it comes to the stage where a product is actually advertised as coming soon, then he really ought to be ensuring that that's the way it is, and if it isn't, then being disappointed and complaining is perfectly acceptable.

i cant explain what prince era this song reminds me of, the keys solo is obviously new and the verse is so current prince jazz style, but to be honest, if norah jones did this people would be licking its anus. i think its great. the chorus hook is great. if this is the quality of his new album surely it wont be far behind TRC? the reason i say this is that it seems hes got the jazz and funk but lost the preaching. is it just me of is he listening to the fans? cos i know full well someone was complaining the other day about lack of vip room mp3s and stuff. so hes put one on to make up for lack of choc invasion which is a shame, but i dont see why people are blaming prince sooo much?

so far possible tracks for new album

musicology: supposedly nothing great studio but absolutely amazing live
life o the party: great live party song
dont make me sleep on the couch: noones sure if this is new or a set piece to improvise on, but supposedly a fun little number
the one he played briefly in hong kong and one other gig?baby baby: another live crowd pleasing chant-a-long?
what do u want me 2 do: according to reviews on here, generally quite pleased, and this is from first listen. only one or two haters and i personally really like it. plus rhonda smokes on bass!

so surely this is a good time to be a prince fan even if choc invasion has been cancelled?

lol, i dont think its meant to be an amazing original song, its just one of those chill out songs. seriously, i honestly believe if a random new act with backing came out with an album full of songs like this, words would be bandied around like best chill out album of the year, ultimate in smooth sounding jazz chillout etc etc

Idiots who buy boots probably expect crap quality when they buy it cos it's, supposedly, the best they can get from the given source...
But anyway, I think it's quite rational for people to expect top quality material from someone who could provide it instead of pathetic no quality mp3's...

1) He's only letting you listen to the song in crappy quality, not download it - the fact that people are downloading it is thanks to the nature of the internet, not Prince putting the song up for download.

2) Maybe he should keep his trap shut about projects until they are definately going to be released, then there wouldn't be a backlash, again, and again, and again - No is surprised, it's just disheartening to see it happen so many times when he has the perfect outlet.

I don't know about you, but it cost me $25 to join the club this year, giving me access to this streaming mp3. I'm not sure how you could say that it's free, just because the club was vague about what they were offering when we signed up. We still PAID.

its a nice little ditty!

Has that Old Prince Flava to it...
its a relaxing song...with a jazzy upbeat hip hop twist!
Definitely could be played on any urban format station!

With a good remix definitely fit for Hot 97 or any Hip Hop Jamz station...
its kinda makes me think of 'Pharrell' of the Neptunes!

Prince this is the jam!
