The ending for "I don't want to leave you" What's up with it? Does anyone know why they just didn't let the track fade on out? It has that trippy ending, like the transition to the ending was to long but they still wanted it, so they just edited out the stuff in between to get to it. Wonder what P was thinking?

I love this song! And I love that ending! The Time material is so damn goot! yes goot! not "good"
anothe r ending thats trippy but oh so dleightful is Neon Telephone I thunk he did the endings like that as a tribute or imitation of how Sly Stone would do..like Slys Stand..how Stand changes the groove at the coda "na na na na na-na -na na" etc. "Climb in my fur."

How does the ending go? I haven't heard this song in years (I'm apart from my CD collection). I think the sound of this one reminded me of Prince's Girl. Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

I just find it strange, I can't believe you don't own that album it some of his best work!

Oh, I've got all the Time albums, but I've been overseas for five years now so survive on a very basic Prince collection.. I know this is a Time song, but I'm comparing it to Prince's Girl, especially the extended version.. the first time I heard I don't want to leave you it immediately reminded me of Girl.. but five years since hearing either has faded my memory a tad! Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

Oh I see, I think they're both in the same key and may use some of the same chords, though don't take my word for it my ear sucks.

It also reminds me of some of the score in Purple Rain, Especially the part where P pulls up on his motorcycle and walks into the house and his Pops is giving Prince's mom some "Act Right" . The congos mainly.

I know what you mean. It's a really strange edit or another drumprogram has started at the end. It really doesn't fit in the flow of the song. I've no idea why that was done but I always find it a bit destracting.

I used to think it was my CD skipping or something - I'm glad to hear everyone's is the same (I first realized everyone's was like that when they had that song in the Reflection room a while ago).

yeah it always sounded like it was skipping to me. That always irritated me too...couldn't figure out why they left the 'skip' in the final mix. Heheh...perhaps they did it on purpose so that folks would think their record was skipping, go back and buy another one... yeah, i did that back in the day...ended up buying 3 copies ...bought the first two from one store and when i realized that they both 'skipped' i assumed that THAT store just got a 'bad batch'...so i went to another store to get the album..only to find the same 'defect'... DOH!! it just does't flow smoothly...it sounds like theres something missing. A shame too, because thats one of my favorite tracks off of that album and that bumpy transition just messes up my flow. theres gotta be a full unedited version lurking somewhere in those durned vaults of his...
