More of Dumb Prince songs..... 319 (ok, I just listened to this again and I really think it should be on the list)
March (what da...?) Yeah, I was listening to the Gold Exp. CD for some reason. Someone talked about "Joy in Repetition" on another thread and IMO, the ONA Version was better than the original if you ask me. The ONA version of Dorothy Parker rocks as well, but the classic version is still the best. Life my azz muthafucka, dis is a bitness!!

I really used to hate 319 but now I dig it. I'm with you on We March. WTF? The version of JIR on ONAL is the only version I listen to anymore. It is fucking perfect. | |

I don't necessarily think Prince writes "dumb" songs. It's just they're not as strong or as thought-provoking as his classic stuff. Those "dumb" songs aren't meant to be taken too seriously even if he is serious about it. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE. | |

Enough of the blasphemy against Joy in Repetition!! 
No live version will ever ruin the magic of the GB version. It's my favorite Prince song i admit that live version kicks ass but the "4 letter words will not be heard, not up on this stage tonight." bit ruins the ONAL for me. The problem with these "worst" songs kinda threads is that
once you leave them up long enough, every single Prince song ever released will get one or two mentions. It's a bit silly, I think. Everyone has different taste. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps | |

i for one HATE the JIR on ONAL.
i almost slit my wrists every time prince says "*insert name here* is about to play joy in repetition". its fucking horrendous. i just want to jump into the cd and say, "hey fuckass, just play the fucking song. i don't give a shit who's onstage!" now i know what this is all about. now i know exactly what i am. |

JIR on ONAL..is sooo good. Although ..the original is still special in its own way. ONAL just funks it up and makes it all sleezy.
319 is great too. What dont you guys like about it? March is a bit corny I spose... Im not all that keen on tracks like 'dinner w Delores' and 'la, la, la..means I love you' and all that elevator music.. 'Scrubdadishes!' | |
