What the *%#@

Being a fan of Prince (and members of his backing band) since the beginning, I was naturally pissed when the Revolution got the boot. BUT I’m listening to the aborted Dream Factory album and I can hear that it was definitely time for them to go! Hard to say how I would have felt about this album in 1987 but I know that I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much as SOTT.

It's very strange as Wendy and Lisa's first two solo albums are really, really good. The first one sounds like it could have been a companion to Parade. The second one is just straight up funky. See if you can find an mp3 of "Are You My Baby". I bought LP & CD of each and they all got heavy play. I guess that's why it's such a shock to hear how lame these last recordings with P were. A number of them are on the NPG Crystal Ball release but they weren't my fave selections on that release either.

Eroica is even better IMHO. W&L have become much better since leaving Prince, I love their solo stuff. Just need to get GirlBros now.

You think that The Dream Factory sounds like the Revolution (well...Wendy & Lisa) on their last legs?
Without that, we wouldn't HAVE some of Sign O' The Times.
Personally, I think some of the versions on Dream Factory are superior to the SOTT versions.
And NOBODY can touch 'All My Dreams'.!!

I don't want to ruffle any feathers here and I hope I'm not dissing W&L or P. I'm definitely pro Wendy & Lisa. I just think that they all did much better after the split.

I agree. I love W&L in the Revolution, but their music was much better when they got "Emancipated"!
"So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.
