Well from 93 - 02 covering mainly the prince years, i'd go with:

1 - one nite alone
2- I can't make U love me
3- The One
4- The Other Side of The Pillow
5- she loves me 4 me
6- the most beautiful girl in the world
7- don't talk 2 strangers
8- one kiss at a time
9- i loveu, but i don't trust u anymore
10- goodbye
11- so dark
12- There is lonely
13-until u're in my arms again
14- wasted kisses
15- eye hate u (remix)
16- tangerine
17- comeback
18- curious child
19- dreamin' about u
20- welcome 2 the dawn.

That's one i burnt myself, very nice it is by a nice fire with a loved one and a bottle of wine. big grin

I've just noticed it goes on a dark, downward spiral about halfway through, but comes back happier towards the end. hmmm

.

And probably all the other big ones - Adore, MBGITW etc.

He mentioned it in one of his RAVE promo/press interviews
and said that he had compiled it himself, I don't know if
it was re-recorded versions or not.

It was called "When 2 R In Love: The Ballads of Prince"
but Warners prevented him from releasing it.

not 100% sure, but I seem to remember him saying as much.

Mind you, I was on prescription drugs at the time.

This page says it was "denied by Warners"...

http://www.dawnation.com/comingup.html

Was it intended to be released on Warners to fulfill contractual obligations?

Was it an NPG Records release which Warners wouldn't allow him to license tracks for?

Did it contain re-recorded versions (which wouldn't involve licensing agreements with Warners), but he wasn't able to use the name "Prince"?

Hang on a minute... That crappy "The Very Best Of Prince" compilation was released in 2001... So in 2000 (when this love songs compilation was planned), he must have owed Warners at least one more album.

My guess is that this was intended as a Warners release with maybe a couple of tracks licensed from NPG Records.
