I Just Got The Live In Vegas DVD 4 The 1st Time And,,,,,,,, I really don't see whats so louzy about it?
It looked fine to me, I pretty much enjoyed all the pre4mances(with the exception of Nikka Costa's). The band was tight as hell, however the crowd was a lil' spaced-out. LOL I didn't expect another Sign O' The Times movie concert lol but I pretty much will enjoy this 4 now! Oh and um,,,the visual quality looks alright to me,,,since some o' ya'll were buggin' about it 4 the longest! What yo beef with the DVD, ya'll? Holla

What about the wide shots of the stage (shot from the soundboard) with the crowd in the foreground composited on top. Just looks Wack!! All the gals say hoe if your man's giving up the gold. All the fellas say ruff if you're only giving up the bone.

I bought both DVDs 'live in Vegas...' and 'RAve 2000...live' from JB Hi-Fi (I live in Melboing)..for like $30 each...I couldnt believe my eyes!!! I thought it was a great deal. So I watched them...both are amazing..but..the quality of Vegas compared to Rave 2000 is shit!... 'Scrubdadishes!'

I think the rave dvd is better.. and thats nothing great...
Hopefully Radiohead will come out with a dvd that will smoke all these corny live dvd's.. cause that concert was nothing short of amazing!

I just seen the Las Vegas concert DirecTV this week, and while I am not a video production expert I found nothing of a distracting nature. Now as far the audio production goes, I found it superb. I am totally convinced there is not a band that can be found that is as tight as Prince's.

I think this is the part where we realize how important a part that big label money plays when it comes to production quality. I think it's impossible for Prince to put out anything that has A million dollar look at this stage in his career without an industry allowance.

I Love all that Prince puts forth (musically). I just watched The Vegas DVD for the first time (straight through) two nights ago. Critics will always exist. I for one can only appreciate.

Holla Well, 1) If you look at it, the resolution on the picture is not very good. Its decent, but more like bootleg quality rather than professional. 2) The sound is not so good, seems like they took it straight from the soundboard so whatever the engineer adjusted when it came to the levels/channels(whatnot) that night is exactly what we got. So, Maceo, John B. and Prince are LOUD throughout the show, yet Eric and the rest of the band are SOOO quiet. YIKES!! Give me Eric over Maceo any night! Check out 1+1+1=3 and The Work to see what I'm talking about. I ripped it to CD so you can pick up on this much better than on your TV set. I guess no one took into a studio and messed with the levels before pressing the DVDs. 3) It heavily edited. The tracklist didn't really look that great to me since the Japanese tracklists for the ONA tour kicked so much A***!!! BUT, HOBBS convinced me that it was a good show and from what I've seen and heard from the DVD, it did seem like it was a good show. Prince cracked some funny jokes and seemed in a good mood. Its a shame we only got 80 minutes out of, what, a 3 hour show?? 4) The camera angles were not great. I guess either Prince was trying to be artsy or he used a pretty cheap camera crew to record the performance. The camera the pans around while in the audience is bad, I mean how much more do you want it look LIKE a bootleg than to see the back of ppl's heads!! The out-of-focus and shakey shots made me sea-sick. The close-ups of Prince weren't really that steady. Many shots were way too dark. He did a great job on SOTT, don't know what happened here. But he did direct that Beautiful Strange video too and it was WAY too dark. Dunno Ouch, thats a lot huh?? Well, on the positive note, its nice that we did get something at all, right?? I'm sure thats the big defense when it comes to Prince releases "The voter is less important than the man who provides money to the candidate," - Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens

Forgot to mention that there are too many shots where camera men are in shots. NOT very professional at all!!! You want to make it look like you're at the performance when you're watching it at home...thats the illusion home video releases like this what you to experience. Okay, thats it "The voter is less important than the man who provides money to the candidate," - Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens

I dunno.. I have to agree with "free spirit". I loved everything about it.
So what... The quality isn't up to par with other concerts. I coulda swore a no budget, 8mm camera holdin', fakety actors movie called "The Blair Witch Project" drew in MILLIONS. By the time people could figure out there was absolutely NO content or substance to this movie, they'd already ran off with everyone's hard earned $$$, laughing no doubt. (suckers) Here,an established, well-proven artist decides to take us on a trip to his world, on a smaller budget.. and people wanna flip out? I dunno why.. Besides... Don't most of us like the bootlegs ANYWAYS? [This message was edited Tue Nov 11 21:40:01 PST 2003 by room319]

It is very obvious that some of us are missing the whole spirit of the performance. It is obvious that the production was designed to give the viewer the feeling of being at the concert, bootleg by design? Who cares?
This is what happens when we focus more on visual than audio. Let's not forget that recordings were originally done for the purpose of giving those who never had the opportunity to witness an artist's live performance a chance to at lease hear it. How many notes did Jimi play out of tune on New Year's Eve at Fillmore East in NY? Who the hell cares? If you do, than you're a geek.
