Dylan... why give this man so much credit? Yes, writing style is beautiful.. but damn, he couldnt sing a lick, and I wont credit him so much for having the nuts to sound like he did. disbelief

Dylan is a great great artist regardles of his later years singing voice etc...he was a fucking movement...you do know that even your Beatles were heavily influneced by, and, woprshipped this man? Not to overpraise Dylan, but lets not reduce his talent and content of his lyrics as soemting thats just trivial.Jimi didnt cover watchtower just for kicks.

Exactly, this is why I commented on it.. If someone wants to label this cd controversial.. Fine, great.. but when u label your OWN cd as controversial.. it stops (with me at least) right there as an ablum full of controversy.. it was like a marketing plot that went bad.

I see your point..one cant stand up and say "I am controversial" etc..you can;t state it becaue that immediately negates it. It has to be done, witnessed, determined by outside forces etc and THEN deeemd contorversial or whatever. And thats what happeend..they let folks hear it at the Cele ahead of time and shit broke out etc..so they knew they had something on their hands etc hence the sticker..which did prove to be true..it was controversial period. Its just now th e code word or at least one of thenm is hypocisy..they are good at giving their definitions as responses, they should look up that word and eat the paper its written on so its digested.

Right, Im not questioning his whereabouts in the music industry, as far as the "movement" I totally agree with you.. but (IMO) there are many, talent, versatility wise that just can withstand and uphold a better example than he..

and btw- yes, the Beatles (John, George) loved him and did somewhat love his sound. but after the years went by, John Lennon thought of Dylan as a mockery.. the "worshiping" passed quickly..

Paul never really cared for him.

yeah i know paul goes on about how great it is to be able to say, i got turned onto dope by bob dylan

as for the influence yeah its definately there, but personally i prefer the beatles to dylan, and i think theyre miles better. just my opinion though.

plus, on the original topic, what pisses me off about the npgmc is how if someone says something even remotely negative, then tonnes of fans come out and kiss princes ass, its ridiculous, someone asks why their thread got locked, and people are coming out defending it, almost purposefully ignoring the fact it questioned something prince did. that fucks me off more than the moderators. i mean, in the defence of the music club that thread we talking about here aint been locked has it?

Well, they do give mixed messages. They used to at least private message me and explain the reason if they moved my threads or deleted them. Now they just disappear without notice. They are moody. What could be fine on a Monday by Thursday will get deleted. confuse I am still grateful touched that they left up my Britney Spears reveals she had sex before thread posted in the Knowledge forum. thumbs up! falloff

RD I think your thread was misread. Which anyone runs the risk of when they post long messages... the more that there is, the more that there is that can be misread.

In any case, I guess this controversy will keep us busy enough til the next Prince event (tour, release, etc.). sigh

lol and who put that "The Controversial New Album"
sticker on the shrinkwrap in the first place?

There's more controversy in an old folk's home when
the daily menu is announced.

Geez. First they promote the album as controversial
[which it wasn't] and then they put down anyone's
off-centre approach to the album's content as a
"focus on the controversy".

I guess they so badly want the album to be considered
controversial that they jump at anything less than a
rave review to prove that point.

I just don't get it!!
Can someone please explain to me why Prince and his cronies find it sooo hard to comprehend that there is and is always going to be a huge interest in his past.
And while you're at it can you explain why it is assumed that because you love the mans music you are expected to follow his religious beliefs as well?
I don't see many other genuine artists ramming this bullshit down their fans necks in the same way a prince. He says he prefers to let the music do the talking and yet at the same time his website is littered with pseudo religious tat!

Aww c'mon Rd don't get your shorts in a twist over a couple of over zealous fanatics. You know the type. And, surely you don't think Prince reads all the crap that gets posted. You know I've told you before your writing style can throw people off of the point you're trying to make, especially if the reader isn't familiar with your posts.
