Q2.) What was the 1st Prince song u ever heard?

Q1.) How long have u been a fan of Prince? About 11 years

Q2.) What was the 1st Prince song u ever heard? I think it must have been Purple Rain

Q3.) What made u become a prince fan? Listening 2 Sign 'O' The Times and then Purple Rain then seeing him live in a short period of time

Q4.) Do u collect all of Prince's CDs, tapes, singles, videos, DVDs etc or only collect 1s of interest (ie 1's u wanna buy)? All-Im a big fan!

Q5.) Do u collect unofficial material? Yes shhh

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not? Erm, well I dont agree with it in theory, but as far as Prince is concerned, there is so much great stuff that isnt official that I just gotta have! A contradiction I admit!

Q7.) R u a fan of any of Prince's protege acts ie The Time, The Family etc? 2 a certain degree, but not as much as the man himself

Q8.) What is ur fave Prince album & single? Album is 1999. Single is more difficult, lets say-'I wanna be Ur lover' (2day)

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why? Im not very keen on Exodus's thuggishness, Emancipation 4 its bland production and 1/2 baked ideas, Chaos and Disorder I can remember being dissapointed in on purchase and I find Xpectation a little dull

Q10.) Do u believe Prince's music is suitable for everyone of all ages or just for adults? Erm, hmm. I think if Prince's music was a film it would be classified 'PG'.

Q11.) What r ur opinions on the content of 'Dirty Mind', 'Controversy' and 'Come'? 'Dirty Mind' and 'Controversy' R great. I love 'Dirty Mind' in particular 4 its punkishness. With regards 'Come' hmm, its OK I guess. 'Come', 'Space', 'Dark' and 'Pheromone' being my personal saving graces.

Q12.) What was ur views when Prince changed his name 2 0(+>? Wacky! ehehehe. I was a bit hurt that I got so much stick and there wasn't any1 else 2 defend him at school.

Q13.) R u a member of NPG Music Club?, if yes what made u join?, if no why? Yes, I am a member. Im a little dissapointed in it, in this is the 1st year Ive joined. This being compared 2 whats been on offer previous years. But hey, its got its benefits so cant complain 2 much.

Q14.) Do u believe if Prince released songs from the vault such as demos, outtakes etc. and live concerts he would generate more revenue from record sales?. Would u buy these CDs if Prince released them? Hmm, interesting question really. I think music lovers would buy them as of cause the fans. I dont think Prince appeals 2 the general public as much these days. A lot of people have lost interest. I myself would of cause buy them!

Q15.) Do u believe Prince has the potential 2 compete against today's recording artists or do u believe he has no need 2 compete and just market his music 2 his fan base? I think he should do as he pleases really. Its his career that he's carved out 4 himself. Plus he's given me years of pleasure compared and a musical back catalogue 2 be envied by many a recording artist.

Thanx 4 answering the questionnaire!

Q1.) How long have u been a fan of Prince? Since 1985

Q2.) What was the 1st Prince song u ever heard? 1999

Q3.) What made u become a prince fan? Condition Of The Heart

Q4.) Do u collect all of Prince's CDs, tapes, singles, videos, DVDs etc or only collect 1s of interest (ie 1's u wanna buy)? I collect new songs that I haven't heard before, be they offical or otherwise

Q5.) Do u collect unofficial material? I don't set out to do so, but if something interesting appears, then I'll get it.

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not? Not sure if it helps record sales or not, but everybody knows that it's illegal and possibly immoral. However, if it's something you want and you know that you can get away with buying it, then you're going to do it. Addiction to the music is what it's all about!

Q7.) R u a fan of any of Prince's protege acts ie The Time, The Family etc? Not really a 'fan', but I like a lot of Associated Artist stuff. Jill Jones' first album is probably my favourite Prince related album.

Q8.) What is ur fave Prince album & single? Album - The Rainbow Children. Single - Gett Off Maxi-Single

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why? None of them, although 'Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic' is a bit uninspiring.

Q10.) Do u believe Prince's music is suitable for everyone of all ages or just for adults? Depends which songs/era.

Q11.) What r ur opinions on the content of 'Dirty Mind', 'Controversy' and 'Come'? Lyrically, they consist of Prince singing about what he was singing about at the time. So he used to sing about sex, so what?

Q12.) What was ur views when Prince changed his name 2 0(+>? Thought it was a bit pretentious. Now think of it as a publicity stunt that went wrong.

Q13.) R u a member of NPG Music Club?, if yes what made u join?, if no why? I am a member. I joined this year, despite the disappointments and mis-leading adverts from last year simply because of the cheaper price. I'm much happier with this year's club.

Q14.) Do u believe if Prince released songs from the vault such as demos, outtakes etc. and live concerts he would generate more revenue from record sales?. Would u buy these CDs if Prince released them? I would most definitely buy them. Not sure about how much revenue they'd generate.

Q15.) Do u believe Prince has the potential 2 compete against today's recording artists or do u believe he has no need 2 compete and just market his music 2 his fan base? Prince could easily compete with today's market if he put his mind to it. Even during his commmercial peak, he seldom followed the trends of the day, he simply created great music and it shone through. I still feel that he could do the same now.

Thanx 4 answering the questionnaire!

Q1.) How long have u been a fan of Prince? Almost ten years (since '94)

Q2.) What was the 1st Prince song u ever heard? Do Me Baby (I was five or so and thought it was a girl lol )

Q3.) What made u become a prince fan? The B-sides made me a true fan rather than a casual one. The unique sound he had and the passion you could feel in it.

Q4.) Do u collect all of Prince's CDs, tapes, singles, videos, DVDs etc or only collect 1s of interest (ie 1's u wanna buy)? I have all of his official releases on CD other than NEWS (they ran out) and For You. I also have his 4 movies, the Beautiful Experience, and some other one around that time period (I forget the name) on video. That's it.

Q5.) Do u collect unofficial material? No. It's not that I'm necessarily against it. I just don't have that kind of time to go searching.

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not? In a roundabout way it helps if only to keep up interest so that when an artist does release work people are anticipating it. However, being an artist myself I'd be against somebody releasing MY work and getting paid for it without my consent, especially if I didn't plan on releasing it or just hadn't yet.

Q7.) R u a fan of any of Prince's protege acts ie The Time, The Family etc? I'm a fan of the Time and Sheila E.

Q8.) What is ur fave Prince album & single? My favorite Prince album is 1999. My favorite single would be When Doves Cry if you mean songs released as a single. My favorite Prince song, however, would be... hard to narrow down.

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why? I wouldn't say I dislike them but the albums I like the least would be New Power Soul, Diamonds and Pearls, and Batman. There are a few good songs on these albums however. I never cared for The Most Beautiful Girl In The World-- atleast not the album version-- nor Betcha By Golly Wow. As far as songs that weren't released as singles there are quite a few I don't care for but many more that I like.

Q10.) Do u believe Prince's music is suitable for everyone of all ages or just for adults? He has a wide range of songs so I'm sure there is something in there for most tastes and ages.

Q11.) What r ur opinions on the content of 'Dirty Mind', 'Controversy' and 'Come'? Dirty Mind's content is clearly done for shock value and rebellion. It's a young man's work. It's a stage he went through but I'm not outraged nor turned on to it at this point. Controversy is toned down and the content isn't as out there. Come seems like he needed to work more of those demons out of his head. It's a bit more disturbing than Dirty Mind considering he was a grown man at that time. However, I'm not offended because I don't take music that seriously.

Q12.) What was ur views when Prince changed his name 2 0(+>? To tell you the truth it hardly registered. I got a little laugh out of it but I wasn't yet a big Prince fan.

Q13.) R u a member of NPG Music Club?, if yes what made u join?, if no why? I was the first two years because I wanted access to his new music. This past year I've been back in school so I don't have time to deal with downloading and I have other more important expenses.

Q14.) Do u believe if Prince released songs from the vault such as demos, outtakes etc. and live concerts he would generate more revenue from record sales?. Would u buy these CDs if Prince released them? I would buy them and yes I believe he would profit from releasing them.

Q15.) Do u believe Prince has the potential 2 compete against today's recording artists or do u believe he has no need 2 compete and just market his music 2 his fan base? No because you can't compete in a system you have no control over. I don't feel he needs to compete anyway. Art isn't about competition anyway, nor how much you sell. Otherwise Elvis, The Beatles, or Michael Jackson would be the greatest of all time and while that is debatable so would Mariah Carey.

Thanx 4 answering the questionnaire!

Q1.) How long have u been a fan of Prince?

Literally since 1978.

Q2.) What was the 1st Prince song u ever heard?

'Soft and Wet'

Q3.) What made u become a prince fan?

My godfather had the album and played 'Soft and Wet' all the time and I got curious and listened to the rest of it.

Q4.) Do u collect all of Prince's CDs, tapes, singles, videos, DVDs etc or only collect 1s of interest (ie 1's u wanna buy)?

I own every legitimate release and a healthy number of boots.

Q5.) Do u collect unofficial material?

See Q4

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not?

I do it and I don't really have a problem with it, mostly because, in Prince's case, I've purchased everything off the rack there is to purchase. Not to mention the memorabilia, concert tickets, fanclub fees, etc.

Q7.) R u a fan of any of Prince's protege acts ie The Time, The Family etc?

The Time has no peers. I'm fairly nostalgic about stuff like 'Vanity 6', 'The Family', Mazarati', but most of it I would never try and hold up as great music.

Q8.) What is ur fave Prince album & single?

album: '1999'; single: 'When You Were Mine'

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why?

I truly dislike 'Diamonds and Pearls'. There's some very good material on it, but there are absolute mediocre crap like 'Jughead', 'Daddy Pop' and 'Push'. It's so beneath him and plus it had that damn Tony M all over it. If I had to pick a single, I'd probably say 'Glam Slam'

Q10.) Do u believe Prince's music is suitable for everyone of all ages or just for adults?

Most of it is suitable for almost anybody, some of it should never be played in the presence of children.

Q11.) What r ur opinions on the content of 'Dirty Mind', 'Controversy' and 'Come'?

I love that shit. They're life experiences. Even if they're not his, somebody out there is fucking their sister. Somebody is getting head. Somebody killed John Lennon. Why not write about it?

Q12.) What was ur views when Prince changed his name 2 0(+>?

It meant nothing to me.

Q13.) R u a member of NPG Music Club?, if yes what made u join?, if no why?

That's a good question. Sometimes I don't know why. I suppose when you consider the term 'music club' it insinuates that the focus is music and the term 'club' suggests exclusivity but there's been precious little of either this past year.

Q14.) Do u believe if Prince released songs from the vault such as demos, outtakes etc. and live concerts he would generate more revenue from record sales?. Would u buy these CDs if Prince released them?

Absolutely to both.

Q15.) Do u believe Prince has the potential 2 compete against today's recording artists or do u believe he has no need 2 compete and just market his music 2 his fan base?

I think the whole popularity thing has gotten past him and it was that desire to get back to it that made some of his early 90's music so shitty. Just do what you do and enjoy the 500,000 or so hardcore folks who'll pay their club dues and buy most anything you put out. Enjoy that artistic and financial freedom, I say.

Thanx 4 answering the questionnaire!

I hope 2 do a study on Prince/Michael Jackson soon. I was wondering if u would like 2 complete my questionnaire 4 me...

Q1.) How long have u been a fan of Prince?

7 Years

Q2.) What was the 1st Prince song u ever heard?

My Name is Prince (that I recall knowing it was Prince)

Q3.) What made u become a prince fan?

My Brother-in-law gave me a mix-tape of some of his hits when he heard I liked My Name is Prince

Q4.) Do u collect all of Prince's CDs, tapes, singles, videos, DVDs etc or only collect 1s of interest (ie 1's u wanna buy)?

I collect anything that has some material (in any shape or form) that I don't already have on some other CD/Video/Single...

Q5.) Do u collect unofficial material?

No, although I do have a couple of boots on cassette recorded from CD boots

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not?

If people want to do it, I have nothing against it, but I don't because they overcharge for poor quality materials for the most part (although some boots are gems).

Q7.) R u a fan of any of Prince's protege acts ie The Time, The Family etc?

Only if you consider Madhouse albums or NPG albums proteges.

Q8.) What is ur fave Prince album & single?

You can't ask me this.

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why?

I don't hate any album, but I seldom, if ever, listen to For You or Prince. I find the stuff to be bland and boring, much more so than people accuse NPS or the Vault to be.

Q10.) Do u believe Prince's music is suitable for everyone of all ages or just for adults?

He has something for everyone, but parents should beware what they let their kids listen to.

Q11.) What r ur opinions on the content of 'Dirty Mind', 'Controversy' and 'Come'?

I am all for what he says on all of these, there should be no boundaries in music, and I love all these albums.

Q12.) What was ur views when Prince changed his name 2 0(+>?

I didn't mind that he did it, but it made me explain a lot to my friends. Given that he signed that big-ass content, I felt his behaviour during those 7 years was inexcusable. He was a veteran artist by then, he knew what he was signing.

Q13.) R u a member of NPG Music Club?, if yes what made u join?, if no why?

No, too costly, for no guaranteed service. If he releases no music/dvds exclusively on the site I will join.

Q14.) Do u believe if Prince released songs from the vault such as demos, outtakes etc. and live concerts he would generate more revenue from record sales?. Would u buy these CDs if Prince released them?

I would buy them if they were good.

Q15.) Do u believe Prince has the potential 2 compete against today's recording artists or do u believe he has no need 2 compete and just market his music 2 his fan base?

He has no potential, because his music is very much above all that.

Thanx 4 answering the questionnaire!

Q3.) What made u become a prince fan? 1999

Q4.) Do u collect all of Prince's CDs, tapes, singles, videos, DVDs etc or only collect 1s of interest (ie 1's u wanna buy)? Ones of interest

Q5.) Do u collect unofficial material? yes

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not? It is illegal, but if it's not harming anyone it can be that bad. Though I do understand why artists get in a tizzy over it that doesn't stop me from collecting it. As far as improving/increasing record sales, it depends.

Q7.) R u a fan of any of Prince's protege acts ie The Time, The Family etc? I like the ones that can actually carry a tune, but I wouldn't classify myself as a fan of theirs, except Wendy & Lisa, if they count.

Q8.) What is ur fave Prince album & single? album? "1999" single? "when doves cry"

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why? hmm..the only one I truly dislike is "rave". It seems..."empty" to me. I suppose had it been from someone else it would be okay in my book, but knowing prince and what he's capable of, it's dissapointing.

Q10.) Do u believe Prince's music is suitable for everyone of all ages or just for adults? depends

Q11.) What r ur opinions on the content of 'Dirty Mind', 'Controversy' and 'Come'? As wendy once said "it exists, people do it". I'm by no stretch of the imagination a prude and if that's what he wants to sing about I'm okay with it, as long as the music is good.

Q12.) What was ur views when Prince changed his name 2 0(+>? Horable, bad, stupid move for his commercial career but it didn't affect the music too much, so it doesn't rub me the wrong way too much, I just see it as a stupid, silly move. As far as why he changed his name,he signed the contract, he should've dealt with concicences(SP?) instead of acting like a big baby about it. I don't care how bad WB were, he read & signed it.

Q13.) R u a member of NPG Music Club?, if yes what made u join?, if no why? no, I don't know why, I guess I've turned into a more casual fan and don't need to know the newest shrug

Q14.) Do u believe if Prince released songs from the vault such as demos, outtakes etc. and live concerts he would generate more revenue from record sales?. Would u buy these CDs if Prince released them? If it was from the "purple rain" era and marketed correctly it could generate more revenue, but I wouldn't bet on it. Prince's commercial status in today's music scene seems to be, well, non existent. And yes, I would buy it

Q15.) Do u believe Prince has the potential 2 compete against today's recording artists or do u believe he has no need 2 compete and just market his music 2 his fan base? I honestly don't know. If he made big videos, made out with britney spears, did tons of interviews, and had a reality tv show I guess. But Prince, elusive, rebellious, missunderstood, sort of feared by record companies, Prince wouldn't be big.
If we're talking music-wise, or course. But today in the music industry it's not about music, which is what prince is all about. He should just stick to marketing to his (ungrateful, whining, childish)fanbase.
Not all of his fans are like that, but he just needs to do what he wants, because he can never please any/everyone, what's the point in even trying? No one stays on top forever.

Q1.) How long have u been a fan of Prince?
Since 1983

Q2.) What was the 1st Prince song u ever heard?
1999

Q3.) What made u become a prince fan?
How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore - my first B-side 'experience' (hadnt bought any albums at that stage - just had the original 12" of 1999)

Q4.) Do u collect all of Prince's CDs, tapes, singles, videos, DVDs etc or only collect 1s of interest (ie 1's u wanna buy)?
Used 2 - but now I just collect what i like.

Q5.) Do u collect unofficial material?
Maybe, maybe not wink

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not?
It's part and parcel of the music industry nowdays - if they hadnt charged the earth 4 CDs, and embraced the internet sooner rather than being so arrogant 2 think they were the be-all and end-all of music, they wouldnt be in the mess they are now. (hello EMI)

Q7.) R u a fan of any of Prince's protege acts ie The Time, The Family etc?
Sure - The Time were cool, but I really dug The Family - it's a strong album. Jill Jones, Ingrid Chavez, 1st Madhouse album and the Mavis albums were special.

Q8.) What is ur fave Prince album & single?
Around The World In A Day - as it shows something radically different from anything else in his back-catalogue.
Fave single...? U mad?!? lol
If pushed, I'd go 4 Let's Go Crazy - as the single mix of that is awesome.

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why?
Chaos & Disorder - a throwaway album I found nothing less than insulting. It was the first time he ever released something he didnt care about - and it really showed. Sure, there are maybe 3 songs on there that are good - but this doesnt rescue it from total mediocrity. SAD. And at this stage Im still prepared 2 give NEWS a chance 2 prove itself over time - it's happened before...

Q10.) Do u believe Prince's music is suitable for everyone of all ages or just for adults?
It's universal. Like all good music, it should transcend boundries and touch peoples basic instincts and emotions.

Q11.) What r ur opinions on the content of 'Dirty Mind', 'Controversy' and 'Come'?
Dirty Mind - pushing the boundries and an increadibly important turning point 4 him.

Controversy - good, but treading water somewhat. But the boy was finding his feet, so at that stage, that's not so bad.

Come - back 2 treading water again - but it's a rich silky soul full-on band production with songs like Dark and interesting gems like 'Solo'. Havent listend 2 it in some time, maybe I should dig it out soon...
hmmm

Q12.) What was ur views when Prince changed his name 2 0(+>?
I thought it was plainly obvious when that whole saga started what his intentions were - I could see right through it, and knew it wouldnt work. The only problem I had with that whole thing was the music suffered because of it. He let his pride get in the way, which was a real shame - that he couldnt 'see the wood 4 the trees' so 2 speak.

Q13.) R u a member of NPG Music Club?, if yes what made u join?, if no why?
Yes. because I thought it would be worth it. I dont visit too often as Im unsure about some of the more dubious 'culty' content over there. However, I may be making frequent visits real soon - the org has evolved in2 something I dont neccesarily find as fun and friendly anymore.

Q14.) Do u believe if Prince released songs from the vault such as demos, outtakes etc. and live concerts he would generate more revenue from record sales?. Would u buy these CDs if Prince released them?
Yes x 1000!

Q15.) Do u believe Prince has the potential 2 compete against today's recording artists or do u believe he has no need 2 compete and just market his music 2 his fan base?
I believe he is happy and content doing his own thing - he got what he wished 4 - control. So in that respect, Im happy 4 him. On the downside, I dont think he is reaching people like he used 2, as he has become a bit of a joke.
Im not sure what u mean by 'compete' - commercially or artisitically? Commercially - would never say never, as he has bounced back before - and we know he has it in him IF he wanted 2 do it. Artistically yes - 2 some degree at least. But the world has moved on, and the music industry has evolved in2 a completely different animal now.

I hope 2 do a study on Prince/Michael Jackson soon. I was wondering if u would like 2 complete my questionnaire 4 me...

Q1.) How long have u been a fan of Prince? 24 years

Q2.) What was the 1st Prince song u ever heard? I believe it was Uptown

Q3.) What made u become a prince fan? The Controversy album. Can you imagine, a 10 or 11 year old listening to Sexuality? Gasp!!

Q4.) Do u collect all of Prince's CDs, tapes, singles, videos, DVDs etc or only collect 1s of interest (ie 1's u wanna buy)? Interestingly, I just went through my collection. I've got Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999, Purple Rain, ATWIAD, SOTT, and Parade all on VINLY DUUUDE. Also on vinyl are several maxi singles, The Time's Ice Cream Castles, Sheila E's The Glamorous Life, Appolonia 6, Vanity's Pretty Mess, Jesse Johnson's Revue, and The Last Dragon Soundtrack (hahaha, that last one, what an FING dork I was!)

Q5.) Do u collect unofficial material? no

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not? Not really sure what I think of that. I, myself, don't believe in doing it, but who am I to tell someone else not to?

Q7.) R u a fan of any of Prince's protege acts ie The Time, The Family etc? I did like Sheila E a lot. She's cool. Vanity was ok too, but The Family? blech!

Q8.) What is ur fave Prince album & single? album? Purple Rain, of course. No wait, 1999. Arrrgh, this is too hard! single? The Beautiful Ones?

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why? Prince sort of lost me with the Graffiti Bridge, either that, or I grew out of him for a while. This is going to piss people off, but I've lost touch with his new stuff, haven't even listened to the double box CD set the NPG sent me a few months ago. Honestly, I'm too afraid to listen lest it sucks.

Q10.) Do u believe Prince's music is suitable for everyone of all ages or just for adults? I don't know

Q11.) What r ur opinions on the content of 'Dirty Mind', 'Controversy' and 'Come'? Like I said above, I got a lot of lessons? from his music. Let's just say I was HIGHLY sexed as a teenager.

Q12.) What was ur views when Prince changed his name 2 0(+>? I was pissed off. Do you realize how hard it is to tell people you're a Prince fanatic, then he changes his name to some weird symbol? It was his choice though, I just didn't happen to agree with it.

Q13.) R u a member of NPG Music Club?, if yes what made u join?, if no why? I was for the last two years, when the price was an exorbitant $100 per year, plus ticket prices. I let it expire, only to see that the membership amount is only $25 now!!! ROOOAR!!! I will renew in January.

Q14.) Do u believe if Prince released songs from the vault such as demos, outtakes etc. and live concerts he would generate more revenue from record sales?. Would u buy these CDs if Prince released them? 1st question: Depends on which "era" he released from. 2nd question: Probably.

Q15.) Do u believe Prince has the potential 2 compete against today's recording artists or do u believe he has no need 2 compete and just market his music 2 his fan base? Yup, especially since the music is starting to go retro again. I don't really think he needs to, and I think he already knows this.

Q2.) What was the 1st Prince song u ever heard?

July: Little Red Corvette.

Q3.) What made u become a prince fan?

July: His similar look, His music, His attitude and originality.

Q4.) Do u collect all of Prince's CDs, tapes, singles, videos, DVDs etc or only collect 1s of interest (ie 1's u wanna buy)?

July: Just the ones that seem interesting.

Q5.) Do u collect unofficial material?

July: I have some, but in general do not.

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not?

July: I don't think it effects it either way, too much. It just makes fans want even more official original recordings.

Q7.) R u a fan of any of Prince's protege acts ie The Time, The Family etc?

July: I thought they were all real cool and each had something that made them worth listening too. Alot of fun.

Q8.) What is ur fave Prince album & single?

July: Around The World In A Day for an album.
17 days as a standard single.
Raspberry Beret/ She's Always In My Hair as a 12inch single.

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why?

July: Graffiti Bridge and Lovesexy. I did not like hearing all the guest voices on Graffiti Bridge and Lovesexy always seemed incomplete and unfocused. Not that they were not good, but just more tracks placed into track selection and more reguard into how tracks play towards and lead into one another.

Q10.) Do u believe Prince's music is suitable for everyone of all ages or just for adults?

July: I'd say 12 and older. something like a PG13 rating.

July: All three are masterpieces.

Q12.) What was ur views when Prince changed his name 2 0(+>?

July: I thought is was brilliant and would make everyone think he was insane. Kinda of a ? to society. I thought it would gain him alot of respect and alot of taunting all at once. But I thought it definitely was cool... prince

Q13.) R u a member of NPG Music Club?, if yes what made u join?, if no why?

July: Yes, in the club. It's Prince's playhouse. Curiosity. I guess.

Q14.) Do u believe if Prince released songs from the vault such as demos, outtakes etc. and live concerts he would generate more revenue from record sales?. Would u buy these CDs if Prince released them?

July: I think it would increase his sales and they would stay that way for a while until the excitement went down. I would buy them. Definitely.

Q15.) Do u believe Prince has the potential 2 compete against today's recording artists or do u believe he has no need 2 compete and just market his music 2 his fan base?

July: He could have a really big movie or album or anything. It does not matter how. When the timing is right and the idea is hot and the music is strong you can do no wrong.

Q1.) How long have u been a fan of Prince?
since 1982

Q2.) What was the 1st Prince song u ever heard?
1999

Q3.) What made u become a prince fan?
music so different to anything else, thought he was cute

Q4.) Do u collect all of Prince's CDs, tapes, singles, videos, DVDs etc or only collect 1s of interest (ie 1's u wanna buy)?
CDs of albums

Q5.) Do u collect unofficial material?
Not really, have one or two, that's all

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not?
Too much to collect, overwhelming. Don't think it affects sales (only fans collect it and they buy all official stuff too)

Q7.) R u a fan of any of Prince's protege acts ie The Time, The Family etc?
Used to love all of them, have all their CDs from the 80s

Q8.) What is ur fave Prince album & single?
Too many!!!

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why?
Songs with sped up/slowed down vocals, just sounds stupid (I still love the songs when sung normally)

Q10.) Do u believe Prince's music is suitable for everyone of all ages or just for adults?
There is something for everyone, I reckon. Little kids love the energy in the songs, so its great he's gone G-rated recently. I cringe now to listen to all the swearing in stuff from diamonds and pearls era, he was a grown man, sounding too try-hard.

Q11.) What r ur opinions on the content of 'Dirty Mind', 'Controversy' and 'Come'?
A bit immature (DM and C) but still funky. Come? Never listened to it that much.

Q12.) What was ur views when Prince changed his name 2 0(+>?
I was embarassed because it gave my friends something to tease me about, and I couldn't explain why he did it. Personally, I didn't really care.

Q13.) R u a member of NPG Music Club?, if yes what made u join?, if no why?
Yes. For good seats at concerts.

Q14.) Do u believe if Prince released songs from the vault such as demos, outtakes etc. and live concerts he would generate more revenue from record sales?. Would u buy these CDs if Prince released them?
Probably minimal, only hardcore fans would buy them. Better off doing it thru website, on demand.

Q15.) Do u believe Prince has the potential 2 compete against today's recording artists or do u believe he has no need 2 compete and just market his music 2 his fan base?
I went to about 6 record shops today, and if I was trying to buy any of his music I would be out of luck (there was a choice of 5 albums, most only best ofs) Can't compete on that level, but live he certainly can! If he has the energy to keep touring and releasing most stuff thru website he should do well for himself, and keep us happy smile

I hope 2 do a study on Prince/Michael Jackson soon. I was wondering if u would like 2 complete my questionnaire 4 me...

Q1.) How long have u been a fan of Prince? All my life.

Q2.) What was the 1st Prince song u ever heard? Damn if I knew. It was probably from the Controversy or 1999 album.

Q3.) What made u become a prince fan? My Mother's die-hard enthusiasm for him.

Q4.) Do u collect all of Prince's CDs, tapes, singles, videos, DVDs etc or only collect 1s of interest (ie 1's u wanna buy)? I try to make it my mission to collect everything he's done. But once I'm rich & famous, I'll be able to.

Q5.) Do u collect unofficial material? I try, but a lot of that stuff can put a nice hole in your wallet.

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not? Whether I collect that stuff or not will have nothing to do with his sales. The man's rich enough.

Q7.) R u a fan of any of Prince's protege acts ie The Time, The Family etc? Of course. Some of the most talented and creative folks have come out of Prince's kingdom.

Q8.) What is ur fave Prince album & single? Purple Rain & the Mountains/Alexa De Paris 12".

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why? NewPowerSoul, N.E.W.S. & Exodus.

Q10.) Do u believe Prince's music is suitable for everyone of all ages or just for adults? It's open to whoever wants to listen. I mean, my mother let me listen to it when I was little & she didn't care. At least he sang about peace, love and sex rather than violence & hate as some of these current artists instill in the minds of the youth.

Q11.) What r ur opinions on the content of 'Dirty Mind', 'Controversy' and 'Come'? Fucking great!! It shows that our hero had the audacity to create stuff as rebellious and punk as those albums. Besides, it opened up the floodgates for other artists to loosen up and, goddamnit, it's P's constitutional right!

Q12.) What was ur views when Prince changed his name 2 0(+>? It was one of the most original things I've ever seen an artist do. But it was just ridiculous looking back on it.

Q13.) R u a member of NPG Music Club?, if yes what made u join?, if no why? No, and for these reasons 1) Economical. Their stuff is too expensive 2) I've been hearing stuff about how our star is pimping his fans. 3) It's not like he's promoting his stuff from the 80's. That's where my heart is. Prince isn't known for being the greatest businessman, you know.

Q14.) Do u believe if Prince released songs from the vault such as demos, outtakes etc. and live concerts he would generate more revenue from record sales?. Would u buy these CDs if Prince released them? Hell yeah. Once I become rich and famous I'll collect every last thing that Prince will ever produce.

Q15.) Do u believe Prince has the potential 2 compete against today's recording artists or do u believe he has no need 2 compete and just market his music 2 his fan base?
Nah, his time in the limelight is up. One can only hope and pray for a successful comeback, but I don't think he's in it for the bling bling. But it doesn't matter if he scores another hit, his influence thru his music and message still reigns.

Thanx 4 answering the questionnaire!

Q1.) How long have u been a fan of Prince?

since 1984

Q2.) What was the 1st Prince song u ever heard?

little red corvette. i heard it on the radio when it first came out as a single. i hated it.

Q3.) What made u become a prince fan?

electrifyin' mojo, a radio dj here in detroit had a five hour slot where he was allowed to play anything he wanted to, formats be damned. he played a lot of prince, but he also played all kinds of other things that you'll never hear all on the same radio station again. but in detroit, everyone listened to mojo. you just didn't change the station when he was on. so it's basically all his fault. you didn't want to turn it off for fear of missing something cool, so alot of people in detroit became prince fans almost against their will. i know this makes no sense, but if you were from detroit in the 80s you'd know.

Q4.) Do u collect all of Prince's CDs, tapes, singles, videos, DVDs etc or only collect 1s of interest (ie 1's u wanna buy)?

i haven't bought anything by prince since 1997, when crystal ball came out. before that i would buy each album when it came out, and maybe the singles if there was an exclusive song on the b-side. so i'm one of the "only collect 1s of interest"

Q5.) Do u collect unofficial material?

yes, it's the only thing that keeps me interested in his music. i haven't really liked anything new that he's done since '96.

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not?

depends on the material. lots of prince's officially released songs appeared on bootlegs first. if you liked it, you'd definately buy the official release (better sound quality, packaging, etc). so that obviously helps record sales. most prince fans i know buy bootleg material to pass the time between official releases and to keep them interested. so how could it not help? even when prince didn't released "the black album" in '87, and it appeared on dozens of different bootlegs, everyone bought the official release anyway when it finally appeared in '94.

Q7.) R u a fan of any of Prince's protege acts ie The Time, The Family etc?

yes. i love the time's music and can't wait for their new album next year. it doesn't bother me a bit that prince has nothing to do with the new album. they are funky as hell on their own ... and the family? one of the best prince side projects ever. it's a shame they didn't stay together, although i understand. i wouldn't wanna work with prince on an album.

Q8.) What is ur fave Prince album & single?

album: sign o' the times
single: alphabet street

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why?

the only one that i really dislike is the rainbow children. it sounds like a poor imitation of prince. i grew up listening to his shit (i was 9 when i first got into his music -- thanks mojo) and i can't recall ever being so damn bored with an album of his.

Q10.) Do u believe Prince's music is suitable for everyone of all ages or just for adults?

my opinion will probably be unpopular. it's not curse words that bother me. words are just words. i play "sexy mf" around my 10 year old daughter. but i wouldn't play the second half of "let's pretend we're married" around her (i.e. the "i wanna fuck the taste out your mouth" section)... it's all about context, really.

Q11.) What r ur opinions on the content of 'Dirty Mind', 'Controversy' and 'Come'?

dirty mind: prince proves he can do new wave too. excellent music for any mood. sister just makes me laugh, i'm not offended by it at all.

controvery: probably his first "classic" album. i don't really buy him getting all political with his lyrics, but it doesn't bug me either. the grooves just never stop.

come: barely half of that album is worth a damn. "papa" "loose" "race" and "let it go" are great, but i don't fuck with anything else on the album. it was a contractual obligation anyway.

Q12.) What was ur views when Prince changed his name 2 0(+>?

i think it was clever. if i understand it correctly, the bottom line all along was so he could try to release music outside of warner bros. notice once he was finally out of that contract, he changed his name back.

Q13.) R u a member of NPG Music Club?, if yes what made u join?, if no why?

hell no. i had a bad feeling about it from the start, and my feelings were only vindicated by talking to a bunch of unsatisfied members. his music is shit now, the people who run the message board at his website are a bunch of fascists, and prince really doesn't give a fuck about his fans.

Q14.) Do u believe if Prince released songs from the vault such as demos, outtakes etc. and live concerts he would generate more revenue from record sales?. Would u buy these CDs if Prince released them?

of course it would generate more sales. i would guess about half of prince's fan are more interested in his vault material. and the chance to have some of this material in excellent quality would be too good to pass up. i would definately buy those cds if they had material i wanted to hear on them.

Q15.) Do u believe Prince has the potential 2 compete against today's recording artists or do u believe he has no need 2 compete and just market his music 2 his fan base?

he has no need to compete, whether a person is into his music or not. prince is not considered hip anymore. regardless of his reasons, his name change ruined his career in terms of "pop". i doubt he'll ever recover from that. i don't give a damn about mtv or pop charts but his music isn't an easy listen anymore. but none of that matters, he still has plenty of die hard fans who worship the ground he walks on.
Keep your headphones on.

This looked like fun...and to make it more fun, I decided to answer before looking at anyone elses responses!
Fun Fun...

Q1.) How long have u been a fan of Prince?
1985

Q2.) What was the 1st Prince song u ever heard?
First I can REALLY recall is 1999, and moreso the Purple Rain material, but after purchasing prior albums, I was then aware that I have heard Delerious, Little Red Corvette and I Wanna Be your Lover

Q3.) What made u become a prince fan?
During the Prince Heyday in 1984 I was only 9, but was WAY into Michael Jackson and at the time you liked One of the Other..hehe. (stupid me)... In Feb of 1985 my parents bought me the Purple Rain album for my birthday. All I can say is Thriller collected DUST and my next venture was Around The World, which came out shortly after. Imagine a then 10 Year old who played ATWIAD forward and backwards. I have to blow my own horn and say I had QUITE an ear at 10!! Then after it was a domino, I had to get all the back albums and EVERYTHING taht came out there-after...not much has changed..except a growing appreciation and a LOVE for "MUSIC" and real "Musicians"

Q4.) Do u collect all of Prince's CDs, tapes, singles, videos, DVDs etc or only collect 1s of interest (ie 1's u wanna buy)?
Absolutely.,Prince has a Lot to offer.
Recently singles i have not bought tho.. Really, as awesome as "The War" is.. I can't afford the $100 Ebay price tag.

Q5.) Do u collect unofficial material?
yes

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not?
Collecting them or not, I"m still buying the official releases. So it doesn't affect ANYTHING for me as far as sales are concerned. But my view on it is the whole angle and devil on your shoulder situation. Temptation is hard to resist...TOO hard.

Q7.) R u a fan of any of Prince's protege acts ie The Time, The Family etc?
Yes. Prince, i know its dumb, but I truly can hear the midas touch in the work he puts into other releases..and YES I do enjoy the Ingrid Chavez adn TC Ellis releases. I KNOW the work isn't up to par as others such as Madhouse, Sheila E ect, but they all hold a place somewhere special.

Q8.) What is ur fave Prince album & single?
Hmm, as a whole i really like The Gold Experience - Lovesexy. Those are two albums off the top of my head that I can listen to over and over in its entirety. Well all of the albums, but some are more "cover to cover" then others
Single - Hmm.. Theives In The Temple

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why?
I like em all..but as far as anythign I didn't really care for..only a handful of tracks on Emancipation "White Mansion", "We Gets Up" and "Damned If I Do" - for some reason those are the only 3 tracks I dislike.

Q10.) Do u believe Prince's music is suitable for everyone of all ages or just for adults?
Maybe, depends on the invidual. Some can get it..the few and far between of us, some only like the peppering of Top 40 singles and there's a boatload of people not willing to take the chance on him, which I don't care... it makes it all that much more intimate and a lesser known secret to teh rest of us.. screw the rest of em

Q11.) What r ur opinions on the content of 'Dirty Mind', 'Controversy' and 'Come'?
Prince has so much to say.. Every album has a lot to say.

Q12.) What was ur views when Prince changed his name 2 0(+>?
I dont' care. He could call himself "Harry Monkeynut" if he wanted to, it doesn't change his tallent. Too many people get turned off by it and only becuase it was somthing that couldn't be comprehended... I dont' even truly understand the name change, but so be it.. It didn't change Prince's tallent.

Q13.) R u a member of NPG Music Club?, if yes what made u join?, if no why?
Yes I am. I'm a huge fan of Prince, support his conquests and would go NUTS if I missed out on any music or opportunitiees.

Q14.) Do u believe if Prince released songs from the vault such as demos, outtakes etc. and live concerts he would generate more revenue from record sales?. Would u buy these CDs if Prince released them?
I really don't think so, to be Totally honest, lots of the demos sound dated and really would be for the hardcore fan.
Casual fans want one more Kiss, Purple Rain or Raspberry Beret. Honestly, no one is interested enough for there to be substancial record sales. MP3 releases thru NPGMC or elsewhere, fan only access is where he's gonna make the most sales.
And of course I would buy them.

Q15.) Do u believe Prince has the potential 2 compete against today's recording artists or do u believe he has no need 2 compete and just market his music 2 his fan base?
I beleive Prince is capable of putting 98% of the popular artists today to shame. But 'general public' isn't interested in that. Plus I think Prince feels he doesn't have to Prove himslef to anyone, he knows what he can do.. and if we get it.. and THEY don't.. more power to US.

Thanx 4 answering the questionnaire!

1. Since 1979
2. Soft and Wet
3. His frankness and ability to be himself no matter what others said or did.
4. YES
5. NO (I have downloaded a few things and have purchased 2 boots...One being the black album and the other is The Beautiful Experience).
6. Not really
7. YES...almost everyone except Ingrid Chavez. I just don't feel her
8. That's hard...I LOVE THEM ALL.
9. I like/love all of the albums for different reasons, but I do not care for "Solo." It is so boring. The lyrics are nice though.
10. YES
11. No opinion. It's all art.
12. None. It's his perogative
13. YES. I vowed in 1983 that I would buy anything with his voice on it. I have kept that promise. I will join the club as long as there is one.
14. I believe that the concerts will sell well as well as some very good outtake material. However, I don't think that it will "boost" his sales.
15. I believe he has the talent to compete in today's music world, but he is hard headed and won't listen 2 record executives. Besides, he has made so many enemies in the recording industry over the past 10 years by name calling and hipping the young crowd to owning your masters, that not many will want 2 work with him.

Q1.) How long have u been a fan of Prince? Since 1984

Q2.) What was the 1st Prince song u ever heard? When Doves Cry, as far as I remember

Q3.) What made u become a prince fan? Difficult to say, surely the Purple Rain-Album, the whole Hype about it and of course the broadcast of the Syracuse-Concert in 1985

Q4.) Do u collect all of Prince's CDs, tapes, singles, videos, DVDs etc or only collect 1s of interest (ie 1's u wanna buy)? I try to get all the official material, but I'm not a collector of every rare item

Q5.) Do u collect unofficial material? Yes! smile

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not? I think there's a reason why that stuff is around and I know it helps me to feel fine because some of the boots are quite better than the releases material smile

Q7.) R u a fan of any of Prince's protege acts ie The Time, The Family etc? Not of any but of the most

Q8.) What is ur fave Prince album & single? Oh, that is like asking "choose a favourite child" - Well I listed some in my profile

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why? New Power Soul, Symbol and Emancipation have some good songs but I still can't believe that an artist who made ATWIAD or The Rainbow Children was able to create a crap like this.

Q10.) Do u believe Prince's music is suitable for everyone of all ages or just for adults? It depends on the song.

Q11.) What r ur opinions on the content of 'Dirty Mind', 'Controversy' and 'Come'? It has sexual explicit content - so what?

Q12.) What was ur views when Prince changed his name 2 0(+>? I think he has made a big strange fellow of himself.

Q13.) R u a member of NPG Music Club?, if yes what made u join?, if no why? No, cuz my internet-connection is not fast enough and I do not have a credit card. And I give a big piece of shit for those who blame me for that and think that I'm not a "real fan".

Q14.) Do u believe if Prince released songs from the vault such as demos, outtakes etc. and live concerts he would generate more revenue from record sales?. Would u buy these CDs if Prince released them? I certainly would buy them but I don't think he would generate more revenue from record sales.

Q15.) Do u believe Prince has the potential 2 compete against today's recording artists or do u believe he has no need 2 compete and just market his music 2 his fan base?

If one day he realizes that he has no need to compete against other artists, his market will become bigger - One day you will remember these words wink

Q1.) How long have u been a fan of Prince? Liked him since 1982, but was prepared to call myself a fan from 1986.

Q2.) What was the 1st Prince song u ever heard? 1999.

Q3.) What made u become a prince fan? The fateful day I flipped over "Kiss" and heard "Love or Money" for the first time.

Q4.) Do u collect all of Prince's CDs, tapes, singles, videos, DVDs etc or only collect 1s of interest (ie 1's u wanna buy)? Only what's of interest.

Q5.) Do u collect unofficial material? I own some, I wouldn't say I go out of my way to collect it.

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not? It doesn't get money into Prince's pocket, but it helps keep his fans interested. We want to hear all he's done - if he doesn't release it, we'll get it from somewhere else. He could make a mint out of live recordings alone if he wanted to.

Q7.) R u a fan of any of Prince's protege acts ie The Time, The Family etc? Wendy and Lisa were the only ones I really got into.

Q8.) What is ur fave Prince album & single?
It changes all the time, but at the the moment - album: Parade, single: the full length Thieves in the Temple.

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why? I don't like the song "Purple Rain" purely because of the lighter-waving mentality of it all. If I never hear that song again, I'll shed no tears.

Q10.) Do u believe Prince's music is suitable for everyone of all ages or just for adults? All ages, but some of it under parental supervision.

Q11.) What r ur opinions on the content of 'Dirty Mind', 'Controversy' and 'Come'? Typical, classic Prince across the ages.

Q12.) What was ur views when Prince changed his name 2 0(+>? My view was "while he's out of earshot, I'll still call him Prince".

Q13.) R u a member of NPG Music Club?, if yes what made u join?, if no why? Yes. It's all about the anticipation of what I might get in return. I got Oct 5th 2002 out of it (long story!), so I can't imagine never being a member!

Q14.) Do u believe if Prince released songs from the vault such as demos, outtakes etc. and live concerts he would generate more revenue from record sales?. Would u buy these CDs if Prince released them? Yes, probably to both.

Q15.) Do u believe Prince has the potential 2 compete against today's recording artists or do u believe he has no need 2 compete and just market his music 2 his fan base?
Of course he has the potential! I'm not saying it would be easy, though. Some songs come from nowhere to become massive hits, why not a Prince song?
Thanx 4 answering the questionnaire! You're welcome!

No.

The Gold Experience and Gold.

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why?

Come. To me it's his worst album imaginable.

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not?

Q3.) What made u become a prince fan? Dirty Mind album

Q4.) Do u collect all of Prince's CDs, tapes, singles, videos, DVDs etc or only collect 1s of interest (ie 1's u wanna buy)? I collect everything that has music or video on it.

Q5.) Do u collect unofficial material? Damn right

Q6.) What is ur view on collecting unofficial material, do u believe it helps record sales etc. or not? I think it does help more than it hurts - people will always get superior material that is officially released. Crystal Ball was helped by the fact that much of the songs on it had been floating around as poor quality bootlegs for years.

Q7.) R u a fan of any of Prince's protege acts ie The Time, The Family etc? yes

Q8.) What is ur fave Prince album & single? cant call a fav

Q9.) What Prince albums/singles do u dislike & why? I dont totally dislike anything

Q10.) Do u believe Prince's music is suitable for everyone of all ages or just for adults? Early material may be to sexual for kids; Recent material may be too complex for kids - and uneducated adults.

Q11.) What r ur opinions on the content of 'Dirty Mind', 'Controversy' and 'Come'? All grat records to me. Dirty Mind is a masterpeice. Look at the number of classics from Controversy relative to the number of songs on it. Come is underrated.

Q12.) What was ur views when Prince changed his name 2 0(+>? Clever - whether you think it was sincere or not, it turned out to be good marketing for NPG and some of his best work come during the name change.

Q13.) R u a member of NPG Music Club?, if yes what made u join?, if no why? I have been a member from day one and it has paid off greatly. I support them 100% - except when them ask for my unofficial recordings.

Q14.) Do u believe if Prince released songs from the vault such as demos, outtakes etc. and live concerts he would generate more revenue from record sales?. Would u buy these CDs if Prince released them? I would buy everything that Prince releases as I have from the start of his career. This is why he loses no money to bootleggers when it comes to a dedicated fan like me.

Q15.) Do u believe Prince has the potential 2 compete against today's recording artists or do u believe he has no need 2 compete and just market his music 2 his fan base? No need to compete! None of today's artist are close to him. When any of thm achieve a body of work like his, then they can think of "competing". And art isnt a competition anyway. Prince freed himself from the industry to avoid this nonsense and freely spread his art as he sees fit.

Thanx 4 answering the questionnaire!
