Stripped down Lovesexy CD anyone?.

With the beatles Let it Be being given the stripped down , back to the original plan album it was meant to be how many of you would like the same done to Lovesexy. Was it too busy, too over produced, was the message too 'out there'. I wonder whether the cd would sound great as a stripped down project. Personally i adore the cd but it would be interesting to hear a different interpretation. What about you?.

Good idea? Yes!
Will it sell? No!
Will it happen? Are you kidding me?

Maybe if it was done like 'Sign O' The Times' with its often demo-like production? I don't think this is a good idea, because 'Lovesexy' was a band-album, whereas SOTT was played by Prince with less input from others. The SOTT-Songs developed their full effect live in concert, the Lovesexy-Songs are better on record than live.

I don;t even know why I'm replying to this thread.
It is what it is what it is.
I sometimes think the org is actually a secret meeting point for Necrophiliacs Anonymous.

A stripped down version of Lovesexy would be terribly beside the point.

Exactly. Lovesexy is Prince's "Wall of Sound" album. So much going on.
Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

i think Eric Leeds said somewhere that it started off as a pretty basic cd then Prince got carried away and threw everything into the mix, anyone care to confirm?.

It's about as likely a thing to happen as a deluxe package
"Roadhouse Garden" tripple album Prince & The Revolution
outtakes set to appear with a picture of Wendy & Lisa on
the cover, engaged in "eating out" -as Madonna once called
it.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Actually, Let It Be was given the "I know everything, screw what George and John wanted, I AM The Beatles, put my name first" Paul McCartney ego trip treatment. It was only "how it was meant to be" in 1/4 of the band's view.

But I get your point. Personally I'd love to hear P remake some of his old albums, with a new band, a new arrangement etc. rather than remaster them.

Besides, I imagine P got them exactly as he wanted them before he let them out.

If Prince was to ever "strip" an album down, I'd like it to be Diamonds & Pearls.

How I'd love to hear this raw, before he tried to "pop" it up.

eric leeds was dissapointed by the eventual crowded mixes (supposedly) and preferred the raw basic track he heard when recording...
