It's not easy to find, but it is his best studio album of the 90s.

True True. The Gold Experience was Princes last really great album. A majority of his work since then has been lacking and sub-par.
My DC Direct wishlist: 1) Bane, 2) Prof Zoom, 3) Superman Blue, 4) Kilowag, 5) Parasite

I see it everywhere, frequently in used bins, and the wrecka stows aren't hip to the fact that it's outta print now, or that they should be marking it up. I'd suggest going online and checking out amazon.com's used stock, or maybe spun.com or half.com. Good luck.

Don't pay any attention to this. Chaos & Disorder, Graffiti Bridge, Emancipation, NPS, and Rave are all better

It's a matter of taste, dude. wink I bet if you polled everyone, The Gold Experience would be his top 90s album.

The fags would have you believe it's all WB's fault, but surely if they could make money from it, they would sell it.

There must be reasons why TGE is hard to find.

I have to say, I can't remember the last time I looked in the Prince section of a record store, must be at least 4 or 5 years ago.

One of the moderators at NPGMC addressed this question a while back and said something about seeing an NPG logo on the sleeve, meaning NPG controls the rights to this recording and a re-issue is up to them.

I have to agree; it is one of his best...
although my fave 90s release is Chaos&Disorder.
thw raw guitar work on these is excellent.

I've also heard a boot' of Endorphine Machine live

I recently got a copy of one of the original pressings through a "small" local store -the paintwork on the cd is richer compared to subsequent presses, but it took me a long time to find it.

I've also heard a boot' of Endorphine Machine live in London I think. It was very heavy on guitar-Just Awsome.

Does anyOne have this?!? and what's the name of the boot?

Actually Prince confirmed this himself in one of the Rainbow roundtables at the 2001 Celebration. I asked him why it was out of print, and he said "That's the only one they don't own..."

odd that he doesnt do himself, it all sounds so weird, i cant help but think things are all moving towards something, lets hope its remasters and reissues i guess. i imagine prince has had this plan for a while, but obviously has to keep it to himself etc. or just chooses to!

I think I must have bought it right before it went out of print, or whatever it is now. A great album.

Is that you Icenine? Hey, no one is stopping you from coming back! In fact, the debating makes it more interesting but don't worry becuase there are still some Connie elements on the board.

Well there you go! I think he's very much into the 'now' thing at the moment and really has no interest in re-issuing old stuff right now. His comments on that Australian interview will back that up.

Yep. At Melodies and Memories, right? They also have bootlegs of Appolonia 6, the Family, Vanity 6, and both Madhouse cd's.

So I could say I hate fags because they give people bad breath and lung cancer??? SWEET . Also this is the only other definition of fags that I could find:

fags : to make or become very tired by very hard work.

An answer to my own original question:
I ordered TGE from Amazon.co.uk for £15 (actually one of their other sellers) and it arrived today (in a rather flimsy parcel with handwriting on it.) I've listened to it a couple of times and I definitely like it; its slick and has a lot of prominent guitar in it. The production reminds me a bit of the pop-style blandness of Emancipation but its more of a heavyweight commercial album IMHO. My thanks to all those that recommended it to me (and hisses for those that said it was no good!)
