I'm missing this album. What's your verdict? Is it any good? Should I whack out for the 1st edition with the extra track or screw that and buy the normal version?

Like Exodus, it's a Prince album by any other name. There's no denying there's some excellent old-school/hip hop fusion jams on this beast.
Alas, Mr and Mrs M made love one night and I'm afraid they had a son called Tony.

its always a matter of taste ! i love this albun ive got the original got it from 1 800 nu fonk, lots o peeps on here dont like it , i f**kin love it , cant really go over it in great detail cos my effin cuzzins had it 4 bout 2 years now !

I wouldn't call Tony a rap-master by any stretch of the imagination, but I think he gets more flack then he deserves. Except for when he acts like a sex-symbol, I don't feel he detracts from this album at all.

I believe Johnny alone makes this album worthwhile, and I've always had a soft spot for Call the Law.

I've had this for years, bought it at the NPG shop in Camden, and I must say that Tony M's "rapping" doesn't ruin it. Some great tracks and funny segues, well worth the investment.
I'm trying to acquire the pulled track, but never seem to be able to "grab" it before it is pulled, if you get my meaning.

Johnny is fun the rest of the album imho average

There are some good moments on the album. I think Johnny is great and I've always liked Call the Law after seeing Sacrifice of Victor. I have the bog standard version of Gold Nigga (no extra track) and it still cost a bit. If you can get it for a not too ridiculous sum then buy it.

Black M.F. is pretty funky too!!

I love the instrumentals.

It's basically a pretty good album, it just feels cut up by all the silly Tony M segues (Gold Nigga pt.1,2,3 etc)

All the songs are pretty good, everyone always says Johnny is the only track worth bothering, but I think that's only because it's the "Prince" track on the album where he does vocals and it's a like a long funk jam.

The rest of the cuts are crap.
To break it down further:
Deuce & A Quarter and Oilcan are instrumental jams.
Goldnigga Pt. 2 & Call the Law are ok tunes.
Black MF & Johnny are what make the cd worth buying.
2 great raunchy Prince & The Band songs.
Never to see the likes of again.
