The copy I have sounds like a studio version, but apparently only rehersal versions exist among 'collectors'.
I heard another version a few weeks ago and it was nowhere near as good, quality and performance. | |

Looks like prince is saving the studio version for a future project like PR-remastered...the track Splash never surfaced until he released it on NPGMC...So I'd say there are a handful of PR tracks that have never seen the light of day...Remaster Purple Rain Now! | |

Two rehearsal takes circulate (rehearsal for the live performance of the song), as well as the single live recording, which Prince subsequently worked on but put aside when he wrote and recorded 'The Beautiful Ones' for inclusion in Purple Rain.ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice.
