It would probably be fair to say that Prince references 'America The Beautiful', including a line in his song, 'America'

Even better spot!!!

My mistake. he never performed it in Vienna - either at the concert or aftershow!!!

Performed in Berlin - 14 May 1987 although it appears on a bootleg with the vienna recording.

He also performed it in rehearsals with The Family

Prince sang "Gustav Mahler number 3 is jammin' on the box..." in the song "Good Love" that was on the Bright Lights, Big City movie soundtrack.

Does that count?

??? If it does, then I guess Mahalia Jackson's 'The Upper Room' also counts from 'Sex In The Summer', but I suspect it doesn't count

The reported list above was posted here:

The reported soundcheck list I have seen reads:

Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)
On Broadway
My Favorite Things
The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker
Use Me
A Case Of U
When You Were Mine
Last December

I didn't attend and I've never heard a recording of this, so I'm only reporting this one.

I would love to hear P's cover of Once in a Lifetime by my other all-time faves, Talkng Heads. Now, there's a bootleg around where I think Prince devoted his entire set to Sly Stone covers. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

He doesn't really "cover" the song. He just says one or two lines from it as a joke...it is from a rehearsale for the 1999 tour...don't go out of your way to find it..it's not worth it.
