Underrated and overlooked tracks There have probably been a thousand threads like this, but what the hell...
"I Wonder U" - so strange, so dark and beautiful, keeps going places you don't expect it to. Trance-like. "Feel U Up" - though it's somewhat obscure (b-side to Partyman) it's perhaps the essential fun Prince song. Sleazy, tongue-in-cheek and funky as all hell. ain't looking 4 a 1 night stand only wanna feel u up don't really wanna b ur man only wanna feel u up "Joy In Repetition" - IMHO, his greatest song ever. Love the enigma of the two words and the spine-tingling moment when he reveals them to be "Love me". comments, additions, anyone?

I couldn't agree more!
The underrated track that stands out the most for me is "5 Women". That song is just brilliant! I love the blues feel, the play on words, and the notion of describing each month with a different woman. It's one of those tracks I could never get tired of hearing.

Some more:
"The Question of U" - What a strange and beautiful song! I loved seeming him do this one live in Sydney on the 24th. How powerful is it, love that guitar bit too. I must work on the tabs for it... "Venus De Milo" - A beautiful tear-jerker of an instrumental. Funny, I've got a bootleg tape of Parade and it has "Venus De Milo, Part 1" and "Venus De Milo (Int.)" at the end - "Part 1" doesn't even appear on the original album at all!

"Joy in Repetition" is by far one of his most affecting, ingenious, intoxicating songs. it is an example of when both his music and his lyrics attain the sublime (also like many of the songs on "Lovesexxy"). the story of this song, as well as the music, transports. perfect. and yes, under-rated. the question is, why is the album it comes from so ORDINARY? I wonder U is, IMHO, the best song to have come out of the '84-'87 period. I loves it.
Other underrated tunes, I believe, are Big Fun, Count The Days and The Exodus Has Begun...marvellous noises all.

"Question of U" rocks, and amen on that guitar solo. It did indeed kick ass when Prince played it live on the 24th. <3 I like "Sarah" and "Dinner with Delores".

I like "Daddy Pop", "Release It" and "New Position". I think they are under-rated.
comments, additions, anyone? Funny, I've been thinking a bit about the JIR 'love me' bit. Jeru=love. Salem=me. It's a beautiful, poignant song. A reference to how joyous repetition can be is in the book, "The Unbearable Lightness of Being". Prince is a genius... --------

I feel like the whole rave unto the joy fantastic album is underrated. Okay, it ain't his best album, but there are some really cool tracks on it, like:
The greatest romance ever sold; Man o war (I really dig this one); Everyday is a winding road; I love you, but...; Wherever you go, whatever you do. Other underrated songs are imo: Willing and able; Dadadada; Three chains o'gold; The morning papers; We gets up; It; Vicky waiting.
