rite, im 16 from south west of england, and sad to say i haven't yet watched purple rain, can some one tell me wots it about and if its wroth a watch

boy meets girl; girl falls in love with boy; boy is demanding and a control freak; girl tries 2 make it on her own with the help of another boy; boy gets mad at girl; boy learns a couple of life lessons from father/mother/band members and boy makes a song by finally allow others 2 help with it; boy gets girl back...the end!!!

so is it wroth the watch, should i rent it or buy it or forget about it

and wot tht black and white movie he made,"under the cherry moon" wasn't it? is tht any good? and wots tht about?

I always felt purple rain worked - because it worked on several levels ...

1- it has excellent "live" performances

2- excellent soundtrack

those are the 2 easy ones ...

3- the theme of we grow up ... so much because of our surroundings

4- the love story (although that is kinda weak )

5- stuggle between good and evil

oddly enough - i have heard alot of people on Prince.org say - that they watch Under the Cherry moon ... more now ... than Purple Rain ...

Under the Cherry Moon shows some of Prince's subtle charactoristics i think ... his sense of humor , etc .. alittle more ... and i think its so much more of a "personal " movie ... that fans really cling to it more ...

I have probably watched Purple Rain more ...

but ... if i had to "blow off the day " watchin one ... it would be "under the cherry moon " ...

Purple Rain is beautiful...you'll love it. And, it kicks Graffiti Bridge in the ass. It's just more engaging and the music's better. I'm yet to see Under The Cherry Moon though.
