Hi all, I'm new here, and I saw Prince live in Sydney, AU...but I was royally pissed/miserable to find out later about all the V.I.P opportunities etc. I waited at this place called "Ticketek" for hours before the tickets went on sale..only to find that a huge group of people had camped there for nights before, and got the (far) superior seats. I always considered myself a Prince fan, but a casual one..it wasn't until I saw him live that I was like "f*ck, where have I been all my life?!" The man was INCREDIBLE live, and now I'm all lamenting and regretting..I just need to see him again. I can't remember having so much fun, which may be kinda sad now that I think about it, but it's true. But grievances aside : where are the best places on-line to find Prince merch, besides evil E-Bay?

And is Prince's official site decent? Should I become a member?

I look forward to getting to know all you fans. I'm glad to have finally found this place.

I went to the Brisbane show. Can't help you with the Q about merchandise, but I can sympathise about the seats. I didn't get the seats I wanted either because the good seats went to NPGMC members. I didn't join because I knew this would most likely be the only time Prince is going to be in Australia (at least for a really long time) and that's probably the only benefit from joining the club - better tickets. Plus I was already broke after paying for two tickets to the show.

Tip for Ticketek - try going to a smaller outlet, i.e. not the one in the city. I went to the ticketek outlet at my local shopping centre and there was no line at all. The tickets go on sale at exactly the same time regardless of the outlet so you have better chance of getting them first. Don't buy online because the Ticketek site jams up by 15 minutes before the tickets go on sale and they only let you in for eight minutes before it boots you off.

if u r new welcome 2 the org , it can b a great site but b careful dont take everything 2 seriously there r a lot of jokers here and its not always possible 2 tell when they r joking !

Actually, Vampirella, NOBODY camped out for tickets. Those people you saw were NPG Music Club members who had purchased tickets either online or over the phone. That is why they had priority seating.

NPGMC is good for some retail, the ticket opportunities and the official confirmations of rumours & events. Yet there are some really creepy followers on there.

Regarding the retail you might also want to check http://stores.musictoday....555&sfid=1. It's the "public" version of the NPGMC's shop, so prices are somewhat higher and items are available later than at the NPGMC.

Music? Nearly no downloadable stuff over there. Some vids in decent quality and changing sets of previously released songs (mp3 in bad quality, 96 kbps mono). Check the NPGMC discussion board on the .org... you'll find complete lists what has been on there and threads which should tell you why you seriously should reconsider if it's worth joining.

Any changes or news are cross-posted here within only a few hours.

It's kinda late now, but I intend to stay informed about Prince's every move from now on. Hell, I'll travel to see him if I can afford it someday.

I'm not hypersensitive and I don't mind if y'all disagree with me, as long as there's no unnecessary belligerance (like on some other forums.) I can handle all the jokes in the world and wit is always refreshing.

Yeah actually this forum is a breath of fresh air, I found. I have also frequented the Michael Jackson forum in the past, but there are a lot of pre-teen girls on there that will fry you for saying one negative word about their hero/god. On here, people r not afraid to say if they think P has fucked it up... which is refreshing. To each their own.

I know what you mean Caroline, by those totally blind fans. It's blasphemy to be honest sometimes...gosh. All artists fall off at some point, and I don't see the harm in saying so.

I got some Prince merchandise on E-bay fairly cheap. Items that are no longer available, like the 12 inch Mountains song. I think I paid six dollars for the record and postage. Not bad.

I have the same problema as Vampirella. I'm not sure if it's good to be a member of NPGMC. For example, I have got Xpectation without being a member, and a lot songs more, and about the special tickets for concerts: this is good if Prince come to your city. But I don't know if he will come to Europe or not, and specially to Spain, and I guess I can hope until he comes.
Are there more advantages being a member of NPGMC? Can you help me to take a decission?
And what about the things you buy. I don't live in the States. Any european, australian or similar who has problems to recieve the material?

For all those new girls & boys in this thread some basic info for newbees:

- one of the most famous songs by Prince is Purple Rain. If you meet a fan, at least pretend you know that song

- Prince released several records before Sexy Motherfucker. Be sure to get to know these, too. Purple Rain is one of these.

- The live shows used to be even better, these days

- The official prince site is NOT www.prince.com

- Be sure to be cool any time, else forget about it

- Do not discuss N.E.W.S. on the org. People will start yawning

- those funny animated images are 'emoticons'. Yawning is one of them

- don't come here too often. It is addictive..

And about Prince is better live, oh, I belive in you, the only guy I have ever seen live and I thought he was the best was someone called , but I suppose he is dead or something like that, because I haven't heard anything about him for 2 years.
