Considering his taste in shoes...I bet he has a pair of ruby slippers somewhere. There's no place like home...there's no place like home... I'm firmly planted in denial

Ive always felt that SOTT should have been titled(or at least was a homage to)
OZ.The reason is because theres so many wizard of oz references.Dorothy Parker(Dorothy), the affliction brought on by a withes curse(wicked witch of the west), Princes hi Camille MUNCHKIN voice on songs like IF I WAS YOUR GIRLFRIEND, YOU GOT THE LOOK ETC.And of course the obvious oh we oh, oh oh's from ITS GONNA B A BEAUTIFUL NIGHT wich r what thw wicked witches evil henchmen sang in WIZARD OF OZ.Not to mention the cover art wich had a crystal ball as a centerpiece(like the crystal ball the wicked witch used in oz).Play in the sunshine also talks bout a big white rabbitt so i guess he added a little alice in wonderland to the mix too.Maybe he wrote it as a soundtrack to be played along with WIZARD OF OZ just like pink floyd allegedly did with their DARK SIDE OF THE MOON album back in the day? After all Prince did like to make "answer" albums of previous rock gods(pr=hendrix, atwiad=the beatles, sott=pink floyd, etc) not to mention the pink floyd like sounds in the song IT.Ive always wanted to express this wizard of oz connection and wondered if anyone else has thought the same thing. Also the line in STRANGE RELATIONSHIP, where he says "isnt it a shame this aint a movie...".All in all the cd, album SIGN OF THE TIMES is a sexy, adult version of WIZARD OF OZ, or so it seems. And your little dog toto too. Sort of odd. I've often referred to Prince as the man behind the curtain, but didn't know he ever used the phrase. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

But at least the music in GB is a saving grace. Ease on Down the Road was not enough to redeem The Wiz.

OMG i thought i knew everything about him. Also someone toln me he is a JW. Is that true? He once compared Grafitti Bridge to The Wizard of Oz when he said that the Wizard of Oz was pounded by the critics on first release and was never an initial success. However years later Oz became recognised and he felt that one day people would look at GB in the same light. Yeah I know, it's f***g hillarious as well but he did say it unfortunately [This message was edited Thu Oct 30 1:10:39 PST 2003 by Gav]

Maybe he identifies with the vertically-challenged munchkins? Just kidding, but he has alluded to the movie a few times. I sent him a Wizard of Oz pop-up birthday card and I bet he cracked a smile when he saw it.

Hi Tindera. It does not matter what you hear about Prince. It is what he is that matters. It does not matter what you hear about him. Bear what you have heard in mind, but use your own eyes and ears--much of who prince is is in his music and lyrics.
OMG i thought i knew everything about him. Also someone toln me he is a JW. Is that true? I reckon he does like the Wizard of Oz. That film was similar to The Usual Suspects in that the Wizard, when he was finally found, turned out to be a harmless old man, who informed the searchers that they already had what they were looking for. The Father (The Wizard) in other words, may be scary, but he is one with the son (the old man in reality). Keyser Soze was both at the top and the bottom, they were the same person. Soze at the top had a scary reputation, Soze at the bottom was harmless. andy --------
