Firstly...

I dig this album more than most folks in the org, BUT...

Who is the woman he (obviously) has a major problem with?

I mean, it's clear in Mad Sex, Come On, and at least one or two other cuts, that there's some dumb-actin' ho that P wanted, but realized that she was f%&@$ed.

Any ideas?

Mayte, I'm guessing. Wasted Kisses shows up on an album shortly after their divorce seems a little too coinsidental to me.

I witnessed some stuff before the Electric Factory concert in Philadelphia in March 1998 that leads me to strongly suspect Prince was seeing other women before NPS was released... either that or his bus driver was personally testing out the groupies that night The fact that Prince started the show that night by singing The Ride seemed to be consistent with my suspicions.

Wasted Kisses, btw, seems to be about Mayte and/or Gregory. Sad but true.

This is the man who sang "I hate U because I love U" back in 1994. It's definitely possible for Wasted Kisses and The One to be about the same person.

Folks said that Mad Sex was about Scary Spice cuz it references pierced tongues and animal prints; and for some reason Come On seemed to conjure up Rhonda Smith in my mind.

it is my understanding that 'come on' is about mayte. i lived in miami in 1999 and mayte had friends and family there. in certain circles gossip spreads faster than a fire in california. supposedly, she was sleeping with another woman and the two of them had an 'open' relationship. the woman was a long time friend and mayte would often fly down to miami without prince to stay at her place. from what i get (especially from the remix version) 'come on' is prince telling her he is not digging this open relationship.

i don't know what kind of truth there is to this. i can say, though, that prince and mayte were in miami a lot...and glam slam was long shut down...and it wasn't just one or two people saying this.
