Miles Davis was great and a genius, but Prince will be viewed as greater(if not already, keep in mind Miles is dead. A certain higher level of genius comes after death. Look at Cobain after one f-cking LP and suicide) . In one hundred years if music still matters Prince will be remembered for his genius in music more so than his quirky attitude. Keep in mind Beethoven was considered a real dick in his day and Mozart was a silly playful bastard, but boy could they play.

Prince viewed as greater than Miles? Doubtful (not saying it is or isn't deserved, just doubtful).

Cobain was more than their first "commercial" album Nevermind, but yeah he has risen in stature. Death to young influential rock stars make them gods.

Umm I think you will find Nirvana had a few more than one album in their career.

I must confess that his music was cool and did hop on the Grunge thing was it was in (See PEARL JAM, and Smells Like Teen Spirit only), but legendary, I think not except when a bunch of visitors at Betty Ford find themselves in need of a Hopeful Hero who made it to the otherside by his own hand and people still martyr you. I'm just saying that perhaps because Miles is dead people have kinda raised him to a higher ground. It is most certainly deserved, he was great, but Prince is greater musically as far as range and ability and influence over the whole of POP music like it or not.

If Prince ended his music career after "Dirty Mind" or even "SOTT" would we consider him more of a Genius?

Well he would have ended it on top of the game so to speak. I realize "SOTT" was his 9th LP (not including side projects) and he was only 28 years old when it came out
Yeah to me based on the content of those 9 LPs of "publicly released" work he should be considered a "DIVINE GENIUS" as he is to many.

Okay one more thing is that he has given us about 20 more beautiful bodies of work (released). Has that oversaturated our idea of what a "Genius" should be or is. And as of late has he tried to please so many of us with different styles and forms of his musical expression that we become bent to say he is not as good as he used be because his music does not just tend to follow one path like that cursed "1999-Purple Rain" LP did?

after prince is dead, he'll be seen as a genius, he already somewhat is, he'll definitely be that way after his death. Somehow, when your dead, you seem to get more props and respect, unfortunate, but true.
He'll be remembered mostly for his music, people may still talk about the name change, but I doubt they'll still be talking about him cheating on Susannah or Sheila or whoever

Greater than miles? maybe, but I wouldn't count on it.

As far as Curt Cobain goes, there are a few reasons why he seems to be on "holy grail" status:
1. A lot of people who are fans of his/Nirvana's music really related to that whole "I hate my life/everything sucks" thing he had goin', therefore when he died they really felt like they "lost" someone close to them

2.Nirvanna became well known at a time when grunge was just beginning to be commercial, so he's seen as like, the grandfather of that genre

3.He died young. Many popular artists/entertainers who die at a young age move up to that God-like status (I.E. Curt, Selena, Tupac, ect.)
