Yes, this is the perfect Prince album. It's also the first Prince concert I attended. November 19, 1982. My favorite song on this album (I have a favorite for every one) is "Free."

21 years old and I just bought it this January. Isn't that just tragic?
But damn, what a January that was. Driving in freezing cold weather late at night with Something in the Water playing. It was a great atmosphere for listening to this album, oddly enough. I think because of that I have it cemented in my mind as a night album, as I don't think I've played it while the sun was out even once. It's a vampire CD. ~ I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR ~

Also I use do the same during my college years, driving home from a club in the freezing cold with Something in the Water... playing, years ago. What an Album!

1999 with a 21st century update: Instead of "Mommie why does everybody have a bomb" its going to be "Mommie why does everybody have a Chip". Anybody know what I'm talking about? "Can't run from Revelation".

I mean, what can I say about it that hasn't already been said? It is quite simply, one fo the greatest albums of all time, or at least the 1980's. And you know, after reading the DMSR book (great book) it seemed to me that Prince put a lot of hard work into that record. He spent endless hours in his studio and at Sunset Sound stressing his enginneer and other co-workers out with his perfectionism. He was still the one-man army, but he was also beginning to let his colleagues in on the fun. That, of course became the Revolution, and then that's when the musical revolution began. But I guess the hard work paid off in the end. It's an absolute funk/rock masterpiece. #4 in my favorite Prince albums list.
By the way, did anyone ever read that Vibe article on 1999? They said it was one fo the most influential albums ever. Cool points to them. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.
