so are we hearing new songs from a musicology album?

it seems like there is 3 or is it 4 songs played on this tour of oz that are new. do you think they would be on a new album? they seem to be going down well too. peeps post your thoughts on songs youve heard right?

musicology

this seemed to be quite average from reviewers who heard the original studio version, but someone at the vid shoot said it was really good and the dancers who were more into hip hop than prince really liked it. but people on this tour who have seen it live all say its amazing!

life o the party

seems to go down well live and is meant to be a good party song?

dont make me sleep on the couch

do you think this would be on the album or is it a live piece for abit of comedy sort of thing? anyway this is meant to be good piano song thats kinda fun.

im sure another new one has been played but i cant remember. anyway, any thoughts?

If this is the party album that we've all been waiting for,
I just might shit myself.

Let's all cross our fingers and toes...
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

My thoughts:

Musicology -- This really sounds great live with its driving beat. It's impossible to say if it will be as good on record (i.e it could be another Days of Wild). The vibe is similar to Get Wild but the song is way better than that.

Life of the Party -- Another song that really works well live. It was well received by everyone at all 4 concerts I saw. Everyone danced. It is sought of a mixture of 70's funk, hip hop (he sorta talks rather tham sings the lyrics), and a touch of salsa. It has an infectious hook. It is a pure partysong with throwaway lyrics.

On the Couch -- I absolutely love this little gem of a crowd pleaser. This may not be an album track but we'll have to wait and see. It is very sexy.

In the live setting all three songs were excellent so it's just a matter of how well they transfer to the studio.

Cheers beer
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

you know what? you should post on the NPG and say the songs are so good live that musicology should be a live album, just like james brown did with live at the apollo way back then. stress how the song might lose impetous and drive in the studio and the band is so tight it will show how good they are as well! then he can release a dvd called musicology live!
i love the idea of a live musicology album, cos i seriously fear it might not work as a studio album!! we'll see! looking forward to it loads though. im so excited!
