Is there such a thing as an online list of Prince songs
ranged by recording date?

We all know pretty much when the pre 90's stuff was put
to tape or cut as a demo and then reworked and when the
alternate versions were recorded or worked on.

But the later stuff, things like "The Vault" or some of
the "Crystal Ball" material is a lot more difficult to
pin down to a certain 'era' sound.

For instance, I've been wondering quite a while now on
"It's About That Walk". Could have been recorded late
1991, late 1992, early 1993. Could also have been put
to tape in 1994. Who knows?

I think I read somewhere that "When The Lights Go Down"
was recorded in late 1992 with Mshell Ndegeocello feat
on bass. Is there any truth in that?

God I really hate having to dig around for some simple
info on songs that have been released on official albums.

I planned on writing to NPGMC and request they compile
a list of all his post 1993 tracks with full credits to
each song, plus date [well 'year' would be ok] of the
song being recorded.

Ok, some of those albums have pretty decent linernotes
like THE GOLD EXPERIENCE or RAVE UN2 THE JOY FANTASTIC
but others, like "COME" or "CRYSTAL BALL", "THE TRUTH"
and 99% of the NPGMC releases plus a great deal of TRC
and also CHAOS & DISORDER, EMANCIPATION, NEWPOWERSOUL,
and THE VAULT...OLD FRIENDS 4 SALE.

So, I set out to write them a nice, friendly, decent &
non-provocative email.But, quickly, I let go of that
foolish notion as it was apparant that from the moment
you type "Hi", they either reply "it should be HIGH",
or you type "HIGH" and they say "Let go of the past,
it's just Hi now".

Seriously, it's quite impossible to even ask them any
regular info, let alone something as specific as this
which would have to be greenlighted by the man himself.

Still it would be nice, wouldn't it?

Anywho. If we could just pinpoint a date for
"It's About That Walk", you would make me one
happy camper.

I hope someone comes out with a book of studio sessions. I've heard there is one being worked on by UPTOWN but I haven't seen it. Anyone know anything about it?

'It's About That Walk' was recorded in September, 1993...according to Days Of Wild.

"It's about that walk" is from 1993.
