Animal Kingdom is fantastic... gives a real Hendrix (Electric Ladyland) feel.

The Truth CD TRULY should have been released... this is THE album that would silence the whole college music/radio scene, and hip a whole slice of folks 2 what the man can do. Great songs, great singing...

I like the whole album, so it's hard 2 pick favs. I really dig Fascination, 3rd Eye, The Truth, Don't Play Me, Man in a Uniform, Comeback (beautiful!), and Welcome 2 The Dawn.

I like this song - very different for him musically, and for once he's singing about something he's very passionate about which isn't sex or God (not that there's anything wrong with those two).

My issue with it (and the whole album) is that people claim it's acoustic. This album is not an acoustic album, people!!! I'd love Prince to sit down with a bunch of new songs, and an acoustic guitar, and not tamper with them in any way. Even if he had his whole band play acoustically, that would be great - but what is this???

I love the Truth album too. Dionne . Animal Kingdom is one of my favorites on that album as well. I liked it when I was a practicing vegetarian and now that I'm not (due to practical reasons). From both sides of the fence it's a good song.

I like the music but the words are kinda "funky funky" like blue cheese. "leave your brothers and sisters in the sea". Gimme a damn break.

A cool song from one of his best albums ever. Certainly the
best album he released in the 90's.

I don't mind there's not many people in the loop on this cd
cuz that makes it kind of special. If it were some bigtime
million selling disc with videos and all it would feel less
special and intimate.

Animal Kingdom is one of the songs I used to think was kind
of strange. I honestly didn't like it that much at first,
but once it klicked I totally dug it. The effects and the
vocals are rather bizarre. And except for one or two lines
the lyrics are actually quite splendid.

I applaud Prince for making his feelings known on the vegan lifestyle but I think I'd rather concentrate on treating my human brothers and sisters with kindness and compassion.

I love Animal Kingdom and the entire Truth album. I think a lot of people are forgetting that Prince wrote Animal Kingdom right around the time when he became a vegetarian.

Now, I know I don't have to tell people that a lot of people don't eat meat for a lot of different reasons or that a lot of vegetarians are very passionate about NOT eating meat. I think the song Animal Kingdom captures Prince's enthusiasm of being a recent convert.

That being said, if anyone has closed their mind to the song, they are missing a lot of clever song writing on Animal Kingdom.

For instance: I don't eat no RED meat or WHITE fish, or funky, funky BLUE cheese.

Did you notice the color scheme "Red, White and Blue". That's not an accident. Trust me, there is A LOT to The Truth that many people don't/can't/won't get. I expect that most of what Prince does will go over the heads of non-fans, but I'm always kind of shocked to find out how there seems to be alot of true fans that don't "get it" either. Amazing.

Damn good point about Prince's lyrics!!!

Also, I know a lot of vegetarians/vegans who would make this their theme song, if they knew about it... Unfortunately, not many of these type of folks even know about Prince...

I can see how it could be seen as tacky, but I choose to like it. I even had a friend play Animal Kingdom on radio once.
