"Come" is not "over-rated"!! It's truly terrible!!! Folks,
Seriously, the "Come" album is the worst official release he has EVER put out. Worse than "For You". Worse than "Chaos & Disorder" and "Old Friends 4 Sale". I'm talking WAY worse. When people say that it's SO under appreciated and over looked I scratch my head. The whole thing is over-produced and encorporates the most sterile drum sound. It's depressing and insular too. The only think even possibly ok is "Papa". -Soladeo1

okay, it's not the greatest album - but at the time I think Prince didn't really care what he put out he wanted out of his CONtract with Warner's. If you are a true Prince Fam then you don't really care. I would buy a cd if all he did was talk on it. "3 1 2 1"

Just keep scratching your head dear, maybe then you will be able to wake up to the genius of this album... "A united state of mind will never be divided

..The Come album is tight,,,"Let It Go" & "Come"are 2 of my favorite all time Prince Jams..just keep in mind..before you get too excited..this is a very subjective topic..what sounds good 2 u or me, may not sound good to someone else..i respect your opinion..but 100% disagree.."Come"is certified gold...which was one of his better showings for the 90's era... Now that doesn't mean it's bad. it just means that there are like what 20 or so albums that are better All the gals say hoe if your man's giving up the gold. 'Come' (the song) is brilliant.
'Space' as well. 'Race' is cool. 'Papa' is interesting. 'Letitgo' is funky. 'Dark' is one of Prince's best songs EVER. Agreed, 'Orgasm' is crap. "How embarrasing to be human!"

The thing with Prince is he sometimes drops the ball in the studio, but he can take a shite studio song and turn it into a gem live. Prince is all about live music. All the gals say hoe if your man's giving up the gold. All the fellas say ruff if you're only giving up the bone.

I agree, and Papa. I like the album version of Come too, although I luuurve the mix from the Beautiful Experience, I'm glad we have that in A+ quality on bootleg Letitgo is bit of a stinker IMO. I think it's missing something, I find it to be an unsatisfying album, despite many standout tracks, I think a lot of them work better alone than as a collective. I guess the original version might have been better with the original Endorphinmachine and Interactive. Come & TGE are really like one project, I know this is always said, but the songs from that era were really something special, they would have made a fucking great 2CD set, and with the right promotion that, or The Gold Experience could have been mega mega hits. It's such a shame the way TGE got left to rot commercially. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Come May '93:
Come Endorphinmachine Peach Space Pheromone Loose! Papa Race Dark Solo Dolphin Pope Leftovers: Zannalee, Dream, Laurianne That's one helluva strong album. What a pity it never saw release. P.S.: Although this tracklist has no official confirmation, it stands to reason that this was it. Prince always played the first three songs in that order - until Peach got released and the track list revised, then he always played Come, Endorphinmachine and Space. Anyways, "Mayte" stated in "her" letter to Controversy in May '93 that a new album with songs that had only one word as titles had just been tracked, so... Whether it is acknowlegded by Uptown/Days Of Wild/Turn It Up or not, I believe that a Come album with this exact track list was made in May '93. FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

Yes, indeed. Every time Warners turned Come down, he returned with an inferior product. Following the release of Peach and Pope, he also removed Dolphin (which apparently he figured would be a hit as he released it on his own as a video in '94) and replaced it with Strays Of The World which he had written for Glam Slam Ulysses. Instead of Peach, he put Interactive on the album. Assumably Warners had asked him for something sexy (because sex sells, like Gett Off and Sexy M.F.?), so he replaced Come with Poem. (Also, he probably wanted to keep Come to himself as he might have figured it had hit potential.) The idea with Poem was quite apparently to taunt Warners. "Isn't that what you want?" he asks in it. And apparently he figured that they'd look funny upon hearing it: "Imagine what U look like from across the room." When Warners heard it, they panicked. They publicly stated that the album was horribly bad. But, really... Poem Interactive Endorphinmachine Space Pheromone Loose! Papa Race Dark Solo Strays Of The World ...that's still a pretty strong album. But apparently Warners had also seen The Beautiful Experience and heard some hit potential in Come, so they - besides being shocked by Poem as an album opener - requested Come to be reinstated as the album opener. (And they also said no to the idea of releasing Gold simultaneously - you know that's why Interactive is also on the original Gold Experience configuration, advertising Come, right? ) But Prince obviously still wanted to keep the song Come to himself - or at least make sure that Warners didn't earn money on it - so he gave them the freshly recorded sex-version instead, giving them what they had asked for without giving them what they had asked for - and still being sexual just to annoy them. In "exchange" for Come, he removed both Interactive and Endorphinmachine to keep for himself - so there went two of the strongest tracks (with hit potential?) off the album. And he replaced Strays Of The World with the inferior Letitgo. So everytime Warners got the album and turned it down, all they got was a weaker product than what they had turned down. So they gave up and just released it as it got released. Anyways, it got fairly favorable reviews (at least here in Denmark), but it was largely overlooked by the public and it received no noteworthy promotion from either Prince (who refused to make videos for Letitgo and Space) or Warners. It died a quiet death. Anyways, the Space single is fantastic! [This message was edited Thu Oct 23 18:26:34 PDT 2003 by scififilmnerd] FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

To me, it was always, some great songs, but as a whole, it lacked something. Can't put my finger on it.
A Weak album, yes, but Race, Papa, Loose!? Brilliant. Come and Gold as a double CD...now that would have worked. .

"Loose!" is an awful, awful song. Go ahead. Put it on your box and listen to it's tepid, weak beats and vacant melody. I challenge you all.

I would agree with that sentiment, but say that Loose, Race, and Papa are the three kickass songs that make it a better album than Chaos and Disorder. Come is better than TRC, NEWS, Grafitti Bridge, Rave, and maybe another one or two that elude me. I'm tempted to say it was better than the Gold Experience album too, but they are both kinda subpar. It's hard to hate an album with Dolphin though just like The Question of U saves Grafitti Bridge. Joy In Repetition is a classic song too, but he ruined it on G.B. and it will always be a 1987 song to me as I started listening to it back then with that great collection of outtakes (Crystal Ball, Girl of my Dreams, A Place In Heaven, Joy in Rep, Databank, etc...ahhh...those were the days)...right after SOTT, with the Black Album and Lovesexy on the way and the Camille songs circulating as well...pure bliss!
