Is Prince better on record or on stage??

We all know Prince has done some pretty innovative stuff in the studio, and no one can touch him live. But Where does his true genius show??
All the gals say hoe if your man's giving up the gold. All the fellas say ruff if you're only giving up the bone.

For me, it's in the studio.
It's where the ideas come through.
Onstage he can interpret them differently.

I would have to say LIVE. Thee have been many occasions where I have heard a studio track and not been overly impressed but then hear the same song live and hear it in a totally different light. Notable exception : Kiss

If I am there, the answer would be live on stage especially if it is an AfterShow like the one I attended at
The Fillmore. The FUNK was dripping from da walls that night. But, I would love to attend a studio performance that would probably top an aftersho w.

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!

In the good-old-times he was great in the studio and great Live ... The live versions were more furious, the studio versions more subtle.

Nowadays, during a Prince-concert, I'm begging him to play one of my classics ... which I instantly regret, 'cause he FUCKS them up!!!

He used to be good in both. He experimented in the studio and made truly original arrangements. His live concerts were the bomb.

Now, he is still a hurricane on the stage, but his studio recordings (although good songs most of the time) are arranged more in resemblance to the live vibe.

Compare Faith No More real Thing/Angel Dust vs King For A Day.

Not necessarily a bad thing I'd say.

To me, it's live. Songs off TRC really do nothing for on record but some of them kick my ass live.

I love his studio work, but after hearing songs live with all the added energy I find it hard to go back and hear the flat studio composition.

I would have to say in the studio. Because this is where he can do all those voiceovers like in the song "7". I love that and also in "Adore". He can't do that onstage. But it is of course always nice to see him perform.
