Well, I've been taping VH1 all this week at 11pm for the Prince episode on 1999 and it hasn't been on yet. It was supposed to be on monday but nothing.

I checked tv guide online and it says it's on tonight so hopefully it will be.

The show itself has been pretty good, some of the songs they showcased were - She Bop (Cyndi Lauper), Losing My Religion (REM), White Wedding (Billy Idol), 867-5309(???), Born In The USA (Bruce Springsteen), Ray Of Light (Madonna) and others.

I caught part of an episode last night with "White Wedding" "Double Vision" and "867-5309"

What was the true story behind she-bop... is it masturbation?

i didn't realize "Ray of Light" was essentially a remake. i'd like to hear the entire original song.

One of the choices that it could have been was a tribute to Ed Norton of The Honeymooners?? That's just plain weird but it was about masturbation.

Me either. I was so shocked and kinda dissapointed. I don't know why because so many songs are remakes these days.

I was disappointed, too. It always seemed to me that whenever Madonna was asked about the song she acted like she wrote it herself and that it was all about her new spiritual awakening. I wish she had been a little more up front about it being a remake.

When She Bop came out, it was highly rumoured that Prince wrote it under the alias Rick Chertoff (Shirt Off)... so for years I went around telling people this story... then I found out Rick Chertoff is a real person... Shot that theory straight to hell!
