It amazes me that so many fans love this album,some even calling it his best album of the 90s?! This album is OK but hardly a masterpiece.There are a few really good tracks ("Space" is nice,and the title track has nice horns),but even those tracks aren't the best he can do.There's just not much excitement to this album,and most songs sound like leftover tracks intended for B-sides.And I know most of you will disagree with me,but I think "Papa" is downright embarassing.Ditto for "Solo" and "Orgasm".Overall,this was a weak follow-up to the superior 'Love Symbol' CD.


In my opinion,Prince should have shelved this album,and released 'TGE' in the summer of 1994 instead (when it probably would have done better).

come is a great album, i totally love Space and Papa.

Its a pity there wasnt more tracks on there though

For those with ears not enslaved to the hegomony of 'fashionable aesthetics' Come is completely underrated.
The title track is among his greatest tracks, -it just goes and goes, becoming a ever more powerful jam with every second. Space is great, so is Pheromone, Etc!. The songwriting is terrific. What's weak here?! Maybe 'Orgasm' is not a song to throw on repeat, but this album song by song and overall is amazing. It even posesses its own unique vibe and mood, one not often found in his music. I admit that 'letitgo' was not what I would have released as a single, but overall this album is seriously underrated. Just as Greg Dulli said, when he picked as among the best of that year.

After watching The Beautiful Experience, Warners also requested Prince to include Shhh on Come, which Prince refused.

Shhh was not on The Gold Experience at that point. I think the only reason that it got to be on Gold is that Prince wanted to Warners.

I really think "Pheremone" is great.

Come is way better than NPS, Rave, TRC, or any other shit he's been doing over the past 7 years. Pheromone and Loose! alone make it a better album.
