Emancipation does have some stuff of merit...

I challenge anyone not to find In This Bed I Scream orgasmic...

Face Down, New World and The Holy River are all excellent also.

Oh, I can't stand In This Bed I Scream, New World, and ESPECIALLY The Holy River. Those songs are the ones I always skip over. Well, those and Courtin' Time, and We Gets Up, and Da Da Da, and My Computer, and... lol
The only one out of those four you listed that I like is Face Down.

We Gets Up - why did you have to mention it - I've even forced myself to listen to it more than once to try and find out why he decided to release it, but every time I realise I was right on the very first listen. I like a good deal of the Emancipation CD, even when I acknowledge that its production values and the drum programming sound less than Prince at his creative best, but 'We Gets Up'??? Even the title is embarassing.

i dont have a prob with, lets have a baby.

i kinda agree with BC graffiti bridge is a ropey track .

but i think the worst p songs r

1.feast = ruins trc
2.glam slam = the rest o this album - MASTERPIECE !
3.animal kingdom = total garbage an embarressment
4.tick tick bang = ropey track from ropey album

The worst song of all is "Solo". The lyrics are fine, its just the way he sings it. This is the only song I would not listen to, but one day I intend to go back a follow along with the words.

I'm sure LHAB is a very nice song, but it's difficult to listen to LHAB given all of Prince's problems with having a child, and subsequent break-up with the potential mother.

Glam Slam is certainly the odd one out on the Lovesexy - painfully simplistic chorus. Animal Kingdom is just painful full stop. Feast only lasts a minute, and is Prince "putting on something another wouldn't dare !" It's just a funny little filler.

But Solo and Tick Tick Bang are Prince pushing out the boundaries of what he'd done at those times, and even if you don't like them, you have to admit they are intriguing in their construction (?!)

Why do these mediocre people post negative comments?
Because they are mediocre and don't count.
Prince is one of the great genius artists of all time, leave it at that.
He has more talent and ability in one little finger than the negative people have in their entire body...

considering the personal nature of this record and what happened after I cant believe you can say that. This song is beautiful, Prince and his Piano getting deep and showing a level of maturity. I love it.

you're fucking kidding me right..?

The song is shit cos the song is shit. get over it. the song was done before his personal loss.

if i write a great song about my beautiful new Hummer... then in real life i drive through a school an kill loads of kids with my beautiful new Hummer, it doesn't make my origonal song rubbish. does it.?

No it is not the worst song he he wrote, but, i think most of them were covered. I personally cannot stand It's Courtin' Time, Moviestar, and most of the songs on ATWIAD.

I have to say, Let's Have A Baby is truly terrible, but we shouldn't be dwelling on what's bad. There's already 239827435 threads discussing "worst" songs, "worst" albums... can we celebrate Prince instead of nitpicking on his negative qualities? I'm pretty new here but damn, some of the comments here are so harsh!

Have you heard 200 Balloons or Graffiti Brdge? There are far worse (and far better P songs). This one for me is down there but I think it's a smooth cut.

You simply cant hate on the love songs on Emancipation. You actually can hear the love that Prince was feeling for Mayte and the baby on those songs.

Terrible lyrics, boring melody... just plain rubbish.

that song has so much emotion and soul in it. perhaps some of you just can't grasp that concept.

if it is good enough for him and his (ex) wife to conceive the night he plays it for her, it obviously aint that bad.

Some observers are of the opinion that 'Let's Have A Baby' carries a stigma and that the song is somehow flawed just because of the unfortunate developments that followed.
This is a load of cobblers.

None of that should detract from the fact that 'Let's Have A Baby' is a really cool piano ballad and possibly ranks amongst Prince's most honest and heartfelt compositions.

The important thing is that it sounds like P meant what he was playing and singing at the time, regardless of what happened afterwards.
